General Election 2020 Part 2

Gerard Howlin used to appear on #marian?

Nah, surely not.

That is a very moving story. That poor young man God rest his soul.

Mary-Lou has it. She made of the right stuff.

The cap doffers just lap that shit up.

Mary Lou looking resplendent here. The scarf really suits her. It would be unreal to have such an attractive, kind lady as Taoiseach. We’d be the envy of Europe and indeed the world, apart from New Zealand.

As Rose Conway-Walsh said in her speech in her local pub in Mayo the other night (no up the Ra utterances might I add), it doesn’t matter whether you’ve been with us from the very beginning, whether you’ve joined us along the way or whether you haven’t joined us at all. Everyone is more than welcome to join us at any stage, whenever they want. Let’s make this a better country for all and respectfully debate the issues with those who think things should be done in a different way.

Despite my politics moving to being a mixture of Neale Richmond type views about post-1985 IRA activity and Richard Boyd Barrett type views on bread and butter issues, I’m all in on this Sinn Fein being in government bandwagon.

I think Mary Lou comes across as a very nice lady.

A refreshing change from the “them and us” type divisive politics of FG, Tory, Trump etc.

If FFG move to block SF being in government they are going to be obliterated in the next election ( unless they have a raft of tax cuts and social welfare increases in the budget ).

I bid 120,000 new homes!!

@TheUlteriorMotive
should i increase rents now on my rental properties or hire a Keane Mulready Woods character to burn one of them down ( whilst inhanitabts out at work ) and just file an insurance claim
Pros:
under a shinner governement ill get a huge insurance payout , he wont get convicted and and ill be free of the mortgage on it

The word “raft” seems very appropriate for the position FFG now find themselves in.

We’re on the one road, sharing the one load.

You rent to people who work?
Rookie error. The government guarantees my rent.

I may get out of the landlord business. Game is gone now. It’s a young man’s business now with all the regulations.

honestly - first sign of HAPS and i entertain them in the interview but already i have no interest
i heard they can wreck the place and their sense of entitlement is disgusting- " the boiler is broken", etc
some rookie lad who has q’d up outside for 4 hours for the viewing is what you need - they usually are afraid of their own shadow and know that if you turf em out they’ll struggle to find anywhere- you can keep increasing the rent also and they wont utter a thing

Because they have 10 times as many homeless as us?

Fine Gael supporters at least aren’t hiding that they are the party of landlords. I suppose in a perverse way there’s a sort of honesty there that you can sort of respect.

All fair points. A lot of the HAPS lads would rather sit in the dark than change a lightbulb.
