In simple terms, he said Ireland are only capable of playing an archaic style of football and it’s ingrained in the Irish footballing culture to which Gilesy listed a number of players (who he believed to be classy footballers) and called him arrogant and condescending and that he shouldn’t be talking about the opposition like that.
In fairness to him, this German side like to talk a lot without this particular team having much to back their self-elevated status up.
Wasn’t watching Giles, but I’d imagine it was more that he implied that this is basically a permanent and unchangeable feature of Irish football, and it doesn’t matter who the players or manager might be, that would have pissed him off.
