Germany vs. Italy

Too little too late.

Ref has given some shocking decisions against Germany tonight.

Our whole defence have been heroes tonight. I’m so proud. I’m so happy. I’m so proud.

Di Natale should be sent home after tonight, he’s a loser.

A superb knockout football performance from the eyeties. Watching them defend is one of the few things I enjoy about soccer any more.

Ah lovely, only saw the last 10 minutes of this. Delighted that my Italian jersey that Gigi is wearing tonight came in the post today. Forza Italy

Never in doubt. We are a better side, we showcased in tonight. Bonucci was heroic. Pirlo has been the best player at the tournament. De Rossi - what a warrior. Balotelli.

Bring it home Gigi.

Played well alright but some very fortunate moments also. Germany were poor going forward tonight. Ozil aside they carried very little threat

Defeated Germans straggling through the streets of Warsaw. History repeats itself.

A complete performance by Italy and they thoroughly deserved to win.

Its a wonderful thing that Antonio di Natale will have the opportunity to grace a European Final before he retires.

As for Mario, well, we’ve all known it for so long now, the boy is special.

Pirlo

Fully deserved the win tonight. Hope Italy can make football the winner on Sunday and best Spain.

Massive respect to Italy!

There was a great article about Prandelli in the guardian before the tournament started. Can’t find it now.

Worth posting again though

I would like to sympathise with my good friend Rocko, chin up mate. Your guys are young and will only grow stronger from pain like this. To Lukas Podolski - go fuck yourself, you ingrate.

Fair play Totes. You picked out Italy as a value bet before the tournament.

Balotelli coming of age tonight in marked contrast to Rooney’s repeated failure in international tournaments.

Only saw the goals here at the airport but player of the tournament elect Hummels was shocking for the first goal and where was he for the second?

Low will be slaughtered for the loss based on the team selection I imagine.

Well done Italy. I only saw the last 20 of this but had said the German defence was suspect and offered the Italians some hope.

They now stand in the way of Spain and immortalization.

Hummels was still coming back from a corner. Not his finest performance but had a good tournament up to this.

Low should take the blame, team was completely unbalanced for the first half. Slightly better for the second half but still looked wrong.

How could I leave Prandelli out for compliments?

What a guy, what a guy, what a guy!

Two teams from Ireland’s group contest the final, just like in 1988.

This is the fifth 16 team European Championship and it’s the third of those that has had two teams from the same group in the final, following 1996 and 2004.

Gianluigi Buffon reveals he was livid at the final whistle of a 2-1 win over Germany. “We can’t play with fire after a performance like that.”
The Azzurri had dominated the match, but conceded a late penalty and risked throwing away their 2-0 lead.

“We are playing for something unique and totally prestigious, so it’s not right with the performance we put in to risk it in the last five minutes and play with fire.

“If they had scored with a lucky ricochet for 2-2, we’d end up losing in extra time 9-2. We are playing in the Euros here and cannot take it lightly.

“I always evaluate performances and attitudes rather than strictly wins or losses. We are still young, apart from a few old men in the squad, and need to learn. It’s only right for the old men to tell them off and stir up trouble.

“We played a great game and could’ve won with a larger result, but there were times when we were even and made the most of incidents. It doesn’t take much to change a match. It went well for us tonight.”

Buffon made a sensational save on Sami Khedira and Mario Balotelli scored moments later.

“For a goalkeeper like me I think it was a good response, but it’s nothing new. I’m sorry if someone is surprised… There were two or three ricochets that we were lucky with and must be honest to evaluate everything not just the result.

“I know there are many people who love me and I try to repay them with performances. I will smile when we’ve won and we haven’t done that yet.”

The goalkeeper also revealed how he prepared for the Euro 2012 semi-final against Germany.
“I barely slept, but did not study our opponents, I spent an hour and a half watching YouTube clips of the celebrations in the streets in Italy after our victory over England. That gave me goosebumps and I can only imagine what’s happening now.”

What a leader! I hope he went to town on Di Natale in the dressing room, that greedy, lazy, bottling prick nearly cost us again.
