Gerrard speaks out about Keane.. or does he?

Lawrenson and Liverpool deny Gerrard comments…Somethings not right anyway…

Liverpool have released a statement categorically denying that Steven Gerrard discussed Robbie Keane’s possible departure from the club with BBC Sport’s Mark Lawrenson.

Liverpool’s response to Lawrenson’s statement read: 'Mark Lawrenson’s remarks are his interpretation of a private chat between the two of them.

‘They do not accurately reflect Steven’s opinion of Robbie Keane and they certainly do not tally with Steven’s recollection of the
conversation itself.’

As a result of Liverpool’s statement Mark Lawrenson has spoken to the Daily Post, admitting that perhaps he may have skewed the conversation: 'I’m sorry if it caused any aggravation but it wasn’t meant to. Steven Gerrard’s name should never have come up in terms of Robbie Keane going in January. It wasn’t Steven saying that it was me saying it.

'The only connection I was making between the two was that they have the same agent and I have had a hunch for a while that Keane could go.

'But that is my opinion and nothing whatsoever to do with any conversations I had with Steven Gerrard.

'I happened to mention I spoke to him on Saturday night but I didn’t mean for that to come across in the way that it has

What a bullshit artist Lawrenson is

What a fucking ballbag. That is disgraceful shit from a supposedly loyal LFC man. The grovelling apology only confirms his guilt.

Totally agree. What did the fucking knobend think he was up to saying shit like that on national radio? Loyal LFC man my hole.

He’s had a chip on his shoulder for a long time… jealous of the fans admiration of Hansen… a few years back when BBC coverd a L’pool away game in the UEFA cup, the fans sang and applauded Hansen during half and full time… his side kick was non too pleased with the admiration shown to himself… which was zilch…

Delighted for Lawrenson, he’s a cunt. He won’t be welcome around Anfield for a while now anyway after that.

However, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it were true. SG owns Liverpool and probably did say what he was supposed to have said, and went ape at Lawrenson anyway, which is only right as Lawrenson should hardly be coming on and telling Matt Cooper on live radio about private conversations he has with SG or any other Liverpool player.

Wouldn’t say that Gerrard ‘owns’ Liverpool. I would say it is a case of Lawrenson being a prick and taking a statement by Gerrard out of context.

I hate Hansen and Lawrenson. I hate the way Hansen used to refer to Owen as ‘Michael’ all the time as if he was his best mate. Then Lawrenson started doing it. Sad fucks both of them.

‘Out of context’? How exactly? Seems to me that the uproar is over the fact that he got the context just right. The problem was that the context is now public and everyone knows Gerrard doesn’t rate Keane.
Stevie Me wants Keane out. The cunt. End of story.

I hate Lawrenson. He is an absolute prat of an analrapist sorry analyst. Just comes out with bland nothing statements and never attempts any kind of proper analysis just rubbish matey jokes.

The fact as a former ROI international that he has hammered another nail into the coffin of Robbie Keane’s Liverpool career is noted.

Gerrard is a prick of the highest order so I’m delighted he is being shown up for the cunt he is too. A sign of his character was with the CL cup in his hand he was saying he would be off. Also his performance as captain for England against Croatia in the rain was nothing short of cowardly last year. His own club manager doesnt trust him to play in central midfield against decent opposition. For that alone Benitez deserves respect despite idiots like Lawrenson or Hansen constantly stating after every bad result that if Gerrard was playing in his best position bla bla bla

Robbie Keane is another prick but this is the last thing he needs.

Hold on there Juhniallio.

Did Lawrenson not say that Gerrard reckoned Keane was on the way out as they (Gerrard and Keane) share the same agent?

Nothing to do with Gerrard wanting him out.

Don’t let a little thing like the facts get in the way of a good story though.

If it was someone like Pennant telling him then there would not be half of this ‘Pennant wants Keane out’ bullshit.

Lawrensen generally talks through his hole. We’ll see if Keane is there after January.

I hated Gerrard in the 2004/2005 season where the previous summer he had threatened to leave to join Chelsea having only signed a new contract a couple of months previously.

Constant - ‘We are not good enough to win the CL’ then’If we don’t win the CL I am off’

I also agree that he does not have the discipline to hold a position and a role on the pitch which means he must be accomodated.

But he is, without a shadow of a doubt, Liverpool’s most important player. He was immense in the second half in Istanbul and possesses a match winning capability few other players have.

He has gone some way to redeeming his horrendous carry on of that season but there is still a murmuring of discontent from me for his carry on at that time.

One thing Farmer alluded to, and it’s something annoys the crap out of me watching EPL football too, is how the commentators and pundits ram themselves up the holes of the select few.

The chosen ones are a certain band of English players and it’s a case of the commentators and pundits falling over themselves to give them a metaphorical hand job.

As Farmer mentioned, they use the players’ first names to identify them - it’s all ‘Frank’ this and ‘Stevie’ that and ‘John’ the other. Sometimes they go the extra mile and it’s 'Lamps, ‘Stevie G’ and ‘JT’.

The ‘foreign’ players are always fair game for criticism but watch out for the silence next time Stevie G falls over himself in the box compared to when Drogba or someone tries to engineer a penalty.

It’s got to the stage where Andy Gray and clowns like him even apologise before mildly criticising Lamps and the lads - ‘I’m sorry but I think Frank may just have chosen the wrong pass there and that’s unlike him’.

Then Tyler will chip in, ‘But the home support will forgive Frank one misplaced pass what with all the goals he scores.’

‘Too right Martin’.

What then, do you think of Barry?

The position behind Torres suits him best. He is pretty good at playing wide too. He can be pretty devastating when the game is open and playing on the counter attack. He has many faults tho and has probably been the third or fourth best midfielder at Anfield this season Alonso, Mascherano and Kuyt would all have claims in being better this season. What was it he said lately about him now trusting Benitez to play him in any position and that he was going to give his all from now on no matter where he was picked. A disgraceful admission about his attitude previously.

His goals against West Ham in the Cup final a few years ago were sensational in fairness.

The worst thing about that is every word of it is true.

I may have said this before but I remember reading that utter wankstain Oliver Holt in the Mirror after the Carling Cup final win last season for Tottenham over Chelsea.

He was lamenting the fact that Chelsea disappeared down the tunnel after and didn’t stay on the pitch as a mark of respect to the winners.

‘Only three men stayed. And they are real men. John Terry, Frank Lampard and Joe Cole.’

Joe Cole is the English Robbie Keane. All fake bullshit and facial expressions for the cameras with fuck all substance behind it. Criminally overrated.

Cole is alright. A decent player. England national team’s best performer for the last five years.

I don’t mind him at all.

We struggle to agree on anything KIB Man - I rate Joe Cole quite highly and think he’s a lovely footballer.

My views on Gareth Barry are well known on here.

Not by me… in a word?
