However badly written the article is, or how much the Indo have gone after Sinn Fein in the past, the fact that Dowdall was a councillor in the party asks serious questions as to how such a scumbag could run for elected office under their banner.

The accusations of shots fired at his uncles house is strange alright that it was taken no further by senior members of the party. But weâre not privy to what went on.
My guess is the allegations of bullying were against members of the party that knew the truth about him and wouldnât let it lie.

Thereâs multiple reasons why they might not have known or believed allegations until it was too late. No one in the press seemed to know when they were championing him as a victim of bullyingâŠ
Ive no doubt the party, at all levels, learned at some stage but what were they gonna do? He was long gone by the time of the killing.

By all means call the party out for a lack of due diligence. He was with the party for a year as a mere local councillor. I think Mary had a few other things concerning her at the time other than her protege.
If you canât see how the acceptance of an utter scumbag as a representative of the party for any type of election isnât a big deal then I donât know what to say.
If Mary Lou was contrite about it even - but she seems to be suggesting a non story.
