Gerry Hutch

Was it not simply that he cracked due to pressure of case and his wife has sued on that basis ? She’d hardly go chasing it if the letter had anything damning in it ?

i think theres more to it than that as there was whispers at the time of cops colluding to agree to identify hutch from the sunday world photo. the case shouldnt have fallen apart due to the death of one officer assigned to the case.

Gangster Gerard Hutch ‘tipped off’ over European arrest warrant

Gerard Hutch, the underworld figure who is facing charges over his alleged involvement in the 2016 attack on the Regency hotel in Dublin, was alerted that a European arrest warrant had been issued for his capture, which enabled him to evade the police, according to security sources.

Gardai suspect Hutch became aware that the Irish authorities had issued a warrant seeking his arrest, after his name, image and personal details were listed on the Schengen information system, which allows police forces to share real-time information on people wanted for extradition across Europe.

Officers had been tracking Hutch as he moved between European countries using his own passport, when he suddenly vanished.

Hutch, who is sometimes called the Monk because he reputedly does not drink or take drugs, was last seen in the Canary Islands two weeks ago. Gardai believe that he has altered his image by growing a beard and his hair.

Officers believe that Hutch is no longer carrying a mobile phone, so his exact location cannot be pinpointed.

Gardai had hoped to arrest Hutch and others simultaneously in the coming weeks, but went ahead with other arrests last Tuesday when the existence of the European warrant became public.

Officers were given permission to seek Hutch’s extradition by the director of public prosecutions after its office was provided with transcripts of covert recordings and other intelligence obtained by the National Surveillance Unit (NSU), which investigated the Dublin criminal following the Regency attack.

The NSU bugged a van that Hutch and another man used to travel to and from Northern Ireland. A listening device that was planted in the vehicle is alleged to have recorded hours of conversations in which they discussed their involvement in the attack.

Hutch has known about the existence of the recordings for more than a year but appeared to believe that the state could not use them in evidence.

The Dubliner is suspected of being part of the gang whose members dressed in various outfits, including as a woman and members of the garda’s emergency response unit, during the ambush on a boxing weigh-in at the Regency. Gardai believe that Hutch planned the attack and acted as a getaway driver.

Hutch left Dublin after he was publicly identified as a suspect for organising the attack in which David Byrne, a member of the rival Kinahan gang, was shot dead. Byrne’s killing significantly escalated a violent feud between the two sides, which has resulted in 18 deaths.

Daniel Kinahan, leader of the opposing gang, has been living in Dubai and is thought to be avoiding entering the EU in case he is arrested.

The whistleblower on twitter clearly knew there was an EAW on the boil before it was announced.

One for the people that look slow thread.

Decision due tomorrow

Despite what looks a weak enough case in predicting Mr Hutch will be found GUILTY

We may throw our hats at the legal system if he’s convicted on that evidence.

He’d have sailed if it had been a jury. I wouldn’t fancy his chances V 3 SCC judges.
We’ll see. We live in hope

When Nicola Tallant and Henry McDonald are saying there is fuck all evidence other than Dowdall and he should walk it says it all.

Most of the recording shouldn’t have been allowed to be heard either.

Who knows though. McKevitt was convicted on the evidence of a paid Walter Mitty and Gilligan got a mental sentence for drugs. They can do what they want sometimes.

Crucial couple of hours coming up. G’wan Gerry………

Gerry has booked a flight abroad departing tomorrow I’m reliably informed. Must know the decision

Going by Paul Healy’s tweets they’ll still be in court for a week listening to the summing up

Making him sweat til they let him go.

Murphy found guilty, Bonney about to be and then they’ll rise for lunch.

Bonney GUILTY.

It’s like Who Wants To be a Millionaire…we’ll find out after the break
