Getting Back in the Game/you'd want your head examined to referee a ladies football match

You definitely would. I don’t even bother marking most of the lads im up against. You could hand them the ball and they wouldn’t put it over. The most you could be taken for is two scores.

I had a free for steps given against me last year when I didn’t have possession of the ball and it 5 yards behind me and. Even when he realised he was wrong he still gave the free in.

There was a ruck for the ball, it ended up popping out the back and I made a b line for the sideline to give the man in possession an option, ref thought I had the ball and called me for steps.

Not really, the Brownian motion of the ball in dictates the movement.

Not until they moved me back there full time.

First game in over 3 years tonight. Gone the wrong side of 40. Scored 2 points.

Were you pulled in from the stand?

I got a nudge earlier in the day. If we’d taken our chances we wouldnt have been far off. They are 2 grades above us.

No business junior b sure

Technically this is a junior A competition.

Ah jesus. I tried to get off the couch. I couldn’t walk. Had to collapse back down.

Tomorrow will be bad.

Sunday will be hellish.

But fuck it if it isn’t the best feeling in the world.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Hurling or football?

Football. Things would want to have been fair bad to bring me back for hurling.

Our junior 11 hurling ream played Na Gaeil Aeracha the LGBTQ team last week. Our team is made up of lads in their 40s and 50s and na gaeil aeracha with a youngish handy team absolutely hammered them. A member of the losing team who is a mate of mine was telling me about it and commented ruefully “we were on the receiving end of a gay bashing”.

I didn’t realise na gael aeracha had a hurling team. Great to see them develop as a club. The Gaa while far from perfect has come a long way on this stuff.

Agreed

The more teams like that across all sports the better

I see Alan Mccrabbe is hurling in the lower reaches of the Dublin leagues these days. Hips must be goosed if all he can do is play in goal for Craobh’s third or fourth team

I read that as under 11’s team first, and I thought it was very weird.

Surely Jimmy D is still not playing?
