Oooooft
Most lads that grew up in the 90s would have been fans as teenagers, but most teenagers grow up. RATM are as fake a three dollar bill. Their original message has been cheapened, bit by bit, over the past two decades, and it went off a cliff over the past 2 years. There are better bands, with more relevant messages, that donât feel the need to charge $145 a ticket at a billionaireâs venue in Manhattan, while screaming âHereâs the plan; Motherfuck Uncle Sam!â
Mudderagawd thatâs a paddling
Not to mention Morello doing Masterclass, the capitalist pig
(White Man) In Hammersmith Palais springs to mind.
The Wolfe Tones
haha, with their silly powerpoint presentations at gigs, or at least they had. I was in a band who played support to the Wolfe Tones, twice, years ago in Co Clare. Money was too good to refuse, but their gig was woeful shite. Lots of people down from the mountains who looked to have limited mental capacity roaring âfuck the britsâ. Awful scutter.
The parallels with RATM are there in fairness.
Some line up.
Van the money hungry man doing both nights!
Love Jimmy cliff and John Prine.
As a commercial venture it was a failure and marked the beginning of the end for Vince Power/Mean Fiddler. First event he organised that he didnât make money on.
Fuck thatâs hard to believe. Id say the public just werenât used to or in the habit of going to that type of festival at that stage. That would sell out 3 times over now with the acts 30 years further away from their prime.
Thatâs it in a nutshell. The acts were aimed at a more mature audience who thought that festivals were pure carnage full of youngsters out of it like at Feile.
This was based on the Fleadh in London?
They were great
Unusual enough to get 2 hours for a gig now
Damon knows the gig
Where would a man go about getting 1 ticket for the Coronas tomorrow night in King Johnâs does anyone know
