Gigs coming up

Christ, sixty notes for those flutes

Not a gig

This would be a great target for an ISIS car bomb.

The future of music festivals for the foreseeable future? Hard to see how it can be enforced

The promoter of the Reading, Leeds and Wireless Music Festivals – Melvin Benn – has suggested that his British festivals could go ahead “as normal” next year.

That’s if festival goers can prove that they are Covid-19 negative.

The managing director of Festival Republic who runs the Electric Picnic wants to link his events with compulsory Coronavirus testing.

However, before his suggestion gets any traction it would require buy-in from the British government and scientists.

He argues that social distancing doesn’t work at festivals as they need to be “full houses” in order to make them economically viable.

Without full capacity “it’s impossible for us to operate our businesses,” he told the British Radio Station Radio 1 Newsbeat .

Instead, Coronavirus testing would act as a “personal incentive” for someone wanting to attend an event, and he’s urging the British government to adopt it.
