I was once seeing a girl who recommended Your Ghost by Kristen Hersch featuring Michael Stipe to me. Of course I knew it but I was hugely impressed.

The Belly debut album (Star) is greatly underrated album of that period IMO

But then again Kim Deal is just wonderful,
Her gig last year in Vicar Street was brilliant I thought and, unlike me, her new stuff is excellent.

My Mrs is a big Breeders fan so we went to the vicar street show. Great gig. Kelly was playing a few years ago in Protomartyr as a touring member. Great band they are.

I saw L7 in what was the Point in 1993. They supported Faith No More. It was a super night. I lost my glasses crowd surfing but I ended up on the stage and dived back into the crowd.

At Forest Fest this weekend,
I feel like a youngster, interesting lineup though
Echo and the Bunnymen last night was a mixed set, the hits were brilliant because thatâs what the crowd knew, an awful lot of chat between which seemed to annoy Ian a little
Charlatans were 7/10, again the big ones went down really well,
Tom Dunne and the Happens played a good set, Smiths tribute band had the crowd absolutely wedged into the big tent
Weather was amazing yesterday, looking quite different today so far, positively chilly
But really looking forward to James tonight
Crowds were huge yesterday which made it hard to go from venue to venue in the evening
Franks played a brilliant set to a big crowd at lunchtime,
Paul Brady played all the hits and the audience loved it
Lloyd Cole stood on stage with a guitar and a white suit and was excellent
Deacon blue is a band that I liked at the time but never listened to except for Dignity, they were brilliant
James are proper headliners, Tim is a brilliant showman, brilliant show

I saw James play in a bingo hall in Waterford in 1984.
Gutted. Johnny Marr cancelled his gig in Spain the other day. I would have enjoyed that gig.

Did anybody else take in Forest Fest?
Was my first time there, new venue of course.
We took the caravan and the two youngest kids (13 and 14)
Itâs a lovely festival, age profile suited us obviously, the kids loved it, they had loads of freedom, itâs safe out, no real drunkenness, very little weed smoking inside the venue, good food options and reasonable enough prices.
Good lineup for our age as well, mentioned earlier in another thread that the Boomtown Rats put on a great show, so did madness in fairness, hard to pick a highlight musically, James were class

We went for one day last year, partially as my other half loves Teenage Fanclub and partially as a night away with friends (a group of us got hotel rooms in Portlaoise). We got Therapy? and Kerbdog as well and got to enjoy Peter Hook and The Stranglers in the sun. Manics were fine.
Very nice vibe to the whole thing but I couldnât see it putting together a whole weekend that would appeal to me. Even this year we struggled to find one day to sustain us so gave it a swerve.
