:o

???

To get so close to the finish. That’s some cruel shit.

You’d think seeing how he was so close to shore that they’d have been able to save him.
Did he just seize up?

Your last emoticon came up as a
which seemed a bit harsh

Raising money for charity is great and all but I really don’t get why people feel the need to swim the channel.

  1. It’s been done.
  2. It’s dangerous
    3.We have boats now

You’d imagine he was suffering for a while but thought he could make it.

How could someone die doing something like this?

A suspected heart attack i believe

A housemate of mine did this a couple of years ago.

If you don’t reach a certain point by a certain time you’ll get pushed down the coast by the current and end up swimming an extra 9 miles or something.

There’s a lot to be said for standing outside a supermarket with a bucket instead of doing shit like that.

I’d say we had boats before people swam the channel too.

John O’Shea is to retire as CEO of GOAL next month

This fucker stinks, there’ll be more to this hopefully.

Would question whether Barnardos really needed to close their offices for the week. Great co-operation with other child welfare organisations and salary reductions could perhaps have been better way. Read they had 5% reduction in pay but Fergus Finlay still earns over 120,000. He seems to appear on an awful lot of current affair shows dealing with topics other than child welfare incidentally.

I’d imagine it was all a publicity stunt to highlight their needs.

Do you think there might be too much of a cross over between agencies and funding could be used more constructively and efficently if some merging went on?

Do any of you feel a bit of a quid pro quo attitude to giving to charity? A mate of mine has just emailed looking for sponsorship for a triathlon he’s doing to raise dosh for cancer research. I’ve sponsored him to the tune of $50 for the last two years. But when I’ve done Dry July, he’s never sponsored me. I feel a bit pissed off about this. Should I ignore him or be the bigger man and donate to him?

People who do triathalons are, generally, cunts.

People who send out mass emails letting people know they’re doing something for charity are definitely cunts.

@fitzy, speaking as an e-friend, this guy sounds like a cunt. So, no….fuck him.

I’ll have to remember not to include you in the mass email for Dry July next year mate.
