Stating that he bottles individual situations is not the same as labelling him a bottler.

Don’t agree with you Sheriff, he was like that up to maybe five years ago, but not since. Even after his meltdown there on the 18th he still had the calmness of mind to get the kids in the stand to move because of the shadows they were projecting. In other words he was still thinking and wanted to still get the best score he could.

Exactly. He’s bottled some situations and has been incredibly strong in others. He’s done brilliantly to win three majors given he possesses this weakness. He also possesses loads of determination and generally battles back from adversity. That gimp on Sky Sports, Ewen Murray, calls it ‘Padraig Harrington’s great ability to forget’.

Might throw a few bob on Jimenez for the PGA, not playing too bad. Cink won’t win it* but would be a good eachway bet. Fair fucks to Tiger though, birdied the last hole there. Class.

I’m saying this because it’s so for an ordinary* player to win 2 majors in a row***.

** Anyone outside of Tiger Woods

***yeah, I know Harrington did it last year

Exactly, its obviously a rediculously hard game (mental strength wise), just saying that he hasnt got that natural coolness that the great golfers have.

So Harrington is not a “great golfer”? That’s bollox, in fairness

He’s done very well for himself, but I wouldnt class him among the greats.

How many times has this arguement been had on here now?

That was fairly heartbreaking. Don’t think he bottled tbh, just played a por shot and then compounded it. Was mentally very tough up that point.

I’d have a punt on Jimenez or Westwood for the US PGA.

is tiger a bottler because he went from the rough into the bunker from beside the green on the 13th(or maybe it was 14t)??..harrington made the wrong choice…it wasn’t bottle…he should have went for the heart of the green on the 16th instead of going at the pin trying to outdo tiger’s amazing shot…

Harrington hit 4 poor shots in a row on the hole - wild drive, poor lay up, overhit approach, pitch into the water. It would be unlikely for a player of his class to play 4 poor shots in succession unless he was unnerved somewhat.

think they were all related as he never got out of the rough with any of them…second he got too good a connection which put him back in rough…3rd from rough he couldn’t get the ball to spin on the bounce so it hopped into rough behind green…then he once again totally over connected into water…

The drive tooka nasty bounce. His driving was perfect otherwise. There was more to the second than it being a poor lay-up, he was in the rough and obstructed by a tree. Given the uphill lie for the third and the water in front you can’t criticise him for overhitting it a bit. Should have gone to the centre of the green alright. That was the big error.

All in all a good week for him, he seems to be back about his business and his driving in particular was seriously impressive. Too many no-marks having a go at him as if it were a personal affront to them that he changed his swing. Tiger was already the best player in the wrold before he did the same thing a few years ago and came back stronger than ever.

Harrington id say will be well pleased when the dust settles today knowing that he is capable of 4 good rounds of golf again and that all his tinkering the last year just might have come to something.
But next week will tell the tale.

Next week im going with Villegas and Anders Romero ew as i normally do in the hope that one day one of them will win a major, but Tiger will be hard bet.

Played East Clare on Saturday, fine spot, played it before about 7 years ago while it was very young and it has come on a tonne.

Three fiver each ways on Kenny Perry, Jim Furyk and Stink Stuart for the US Open.
Was going to do Westwood but changed my mind and I don’t know why.

I’ll probably do a small 2.50ew online on some 200/1 plus shot yet too when I get time later to view some likely candidates.

I took:

I backed Allenby 90/1 on Betfair yesterday.

Other 2 were Cink 50/1 & Goosen 50/1.

Pity there’s no e/w.

You can lay them off if they come into contention.
