The boss gave me a set of clubs for free, his son is a professional caddy and had a few old sets knocking about at home. Spalding, in fairly good condition but missing a putter. 8 irons, 2 woods and a driver.

Went to the driving range last night and launched a few balls

Try gumtree to fill out the set with second hand clubs.

Does any know what happened Anthony Kim?

Played my first round today, didn’t keep score but hit one par, one bogey and 7 double bogeys:clap:

Won’t mention the other 9 holes:eek: and I only lost two balls:clap:

Golf is quite difficult.

That’s a fair effort.

Housemate said he hit 18 over so I’d say I I probably hit somewhere in the mid to late 30s

Given that you were 15 over for the nine holes you are prepared to tell us about, I’d imagine you were 50 over or more.

Way to encourage the chap there @Fagan ODowd .

Went back to the range again last night and worked on my drive. Think I have it sussed now. It is as much about your feet as it is your swing when making the connection, weight on the back foot for the back swing and lifting onto the front foot along with bending the back knee for the follow through. Made a world of difference

Yep you have it sorted. Keep doing that and you will drive it straight and long everyday. It’s a simple aul game really.

How do I go about getting an official handicap?

I played my second round on Saturday, hit 65 for the front 9 which was pretty shit as I wasn’t concentrating but stepped it up a bit on the back 9 and it took me 50 shots to complete including 10 shots on the par 5 18th which pissed me right off as the other 8 holes were quality golf by me.

I plan on playing another 18 holes tonight and will be very disappointed if I don’t complete the course closer to 100 strokes than 115

@artfoley might rent himself out to you for a while.

You have to join a club and play 3 rounds to get a GUI card, there used to be a place above in Tipp with cheap yearly fees where lads could go to get a GUI card. Can’t remember the name of it.
