Spoken Stories: Independence

This is really good. Would be of particular interest to Limerick posters if they haven’t already heard it.

The Brothers Karamazov lined up to go in a few days, a book I’ve wanted to read for a few years now but kept putting it off… 37 hours long on audible. I bought The Gulag Archipelago also… supposed to be a tough read.

Dianne from cheers liked to go to bed with the brothers karamazov

Read it a couple of years, enthralling insight of the frontier

Just finished “Disgrace” by JM Coetzee after a few recommendations here
Thought it was excellent

Self improvement is great pal, go for it.

I finished the first Kevin Barry short stories book last weekend “There are little kingdoms”. Enjoyed that, especially the one about the fella walking out along the river by the cement factory.

A masterpiece. So much going on in it.

If it worked for you it can work for anyone.

Watched High Fidelity for probably the fourth time last night @EstebanSexface. Part of a weekend of easy watching with the Mrs (The Wedding Singer on Saturday).

Decided to give the TV show a go tonight. Got through the first three episodes and it’s not too bad. It uses a lot of the same dialogue, and it’s a pretty similar storyline obviously. I don’t know would it be better coming at it with no experience of the film and/or book for that matter

I heard this chap on the radio last week and he impressed me, I got this book yesterday and it appears to be a remarkable work, he’s from a neighbouring parish and the book is set there so I may have a little bias, but his writing is lovely, a mix of Donal Ryan and Sebastian Barry

It’s set in Douglas @Locke @Thomas_Brady

Incidentally I’m listening to Papillon on Audible and it’s really not doing it for me

This is brilliant if you have any interest in words or language.

Waiting on this

Heard him reading from it one time superb

Bought a copy of this for the Mrs, but I’ll end up reading it myself. Have you read ‘Fever Pitch’?

By the way lads, I ordered from Kennys in Galway. No postage charges. Keeping the money in Ireland
