Good Books

I’ve started a book called ‘Anthem’ by Noah Hawley, I’ve a feeling it’s set to be a modern day classic, it’s a book about politics, race, all of the topics which have the USA divided, yet it’s impossible to guess the politics of the author, everybody is human, a bit of an asshole in everybody

Well worth reading now, it’ll be a topic of discussion

America was in crisis during the Nixon/Ford/Carter era. Between Vietnam, Watergate, the Oil Crisis and the Iran - Northern Ireland would have been way down the list of priorities. Then Reagan was in Thatchers top pocket.

I very much enjoyed this elegiac book. A love story of sorts.

Milkman by Anna Burns.

Very wordy and tough to read at times.

But very good.

A good book for the TFK dads… The boy at the back of the class.

About a refugee coming to the UK and going to school there. V well told and a strong. Even more relevant message for kids at the moment

We’ve a few copies of that in class. The kids who’ve read it so far have absolutely loved it.

Did anyone read Chris Luke’s book “a life in Trauma”?

Any decent non fiction audible recommendations?

Nearly finished this.

Michael Harding is always worth it.

Mike Florio’s new book is very interesting for me, but maybe less so for you as you appear to have a very good handle on the politics and behind the scenes stuff in the NFL, good book though

Here’s a few more of my favourite non fiction audiobooks
I may be able to share these with you but that would involve you giving me your number :flushed:
I have dozens more :man_shrugging:

Just finished ‘Bundini’ a biography of Bundini Brown who was a cornerman and ‘hypeman’ for Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson. Very enjoyable story well told. Bundini got a bad rap in the Will Smith film about Ali and the author gives a different version of the man. Hard to know who is telling the truth but a fascinating character who lived a colourful life.

Great Tommy Cooper gag that. Fairly sure I posted it here before but still smiled again.

I lolled when I heard it on tv recently.
