I’m about a third of the way through this and I have the same thoughts. Incredible to think that this is a debut novel.
You’d be jealous of somebody who hasn’t read Shuggie yet, there’s very few novels that I’d consider essential reading, future stone cold classics, Shuggie is one, the characters would never leave you
It’s obviously mainly autobiographical but the way he can describe the characters other than himself in the book is astounding. His descriptions of Agnes’s exploits may as well be written by a downtrodden yet feisty and caring alcoholic middle aged woman.
Stuart is clearly a gifted, natural writer.
I came very close to starting it recently but decided it sounded too grim
Read it.
It is grim but it’s funny and entertaining amongst everything.
I’ve never read it and never will.
Homophobe.
Pity, I’d say it would appeal to you,
But I know you don’t like books, I don’t really like television or movies, each to their own
Not sure where you got that from.
Is it about a gay?
If you don’t know what it’s about why are you so resolute that you won’t read it?
I’m not gone on autobiography type books.
Sure you’re always saying it, maybe there’s sone books you like but I dunno
You’re into podders
I don’t think I’ve ever said it mate. I only listen to Joe Rogan for life advice. I wouldn’t really be into podders at all.
OK
I haven’t a clue where we’re going here
Doesn’t like sports books
Doesn’t like fiction
Doesn’t like autobiographies
Doesn’t like audible
