I’ve read them all, the Ethiopian book gets a bit technical after a while
Interesting book here that I picked up in the book Centre. Interesting nuggets on the early history of the GAA in Waterford. Written by Senan Cooke who previously wrote the history of the GAA in Kilmacow.
What is in there for 1882?
This is a good book, though long (659 pages of very small type). Brendon writes very well, though somewhat scandalously particularly about how the British viewed the people they subjugated. No punches are pulled. Impossible to believe that a race of people who felt like that could lose that worldview in a couple of generations.
Also notable the impact that Irish independence had across the empire.
The new Donal Ryan book is in the shops, he hasn’t done a bad one yet
Didn’t he have one from the point of view of a Syrian refugee?
I thought that was a bit strange but I haven’t read it.
The Slanting of the Sun and The Spinning Heart were quality.
The Syrian is one of three characters explored in that book, From a low and quiet sea, it’s now a touring stage play,
From a low and quiet sea was a lovely book. I see that Solar Bones one of my favourite books is now going to be a play in the Abbey. “ Keep going, keep going to fuck.” One of the great closing lines in any book
Great books alright. Strange Flowers was a disappointment. The first half was very good, but I ended up parking it about two thirds of the way through.
Is that the one with the traveller girl?
I just found the greatest ever book by an Irish writer “Final Moments” on eBay for £2.99 including postage, so effectively for free. It’s now in my possession.

Congrats a chara but I’m unsure about it being the greatest book by an Irish writer although it’s certainly in the top 10. I can see you knocking a great time out of it, lending it to luminaries of your acquaintance - Matty and Nick.
It’s a bit of a pain that you can no longer buy books via the Kindle App on Android
No. It’s about a girl who disappeared from home.
Unreal. Im awake all night reading because of you.
Ever read this @Fagan_ODowd @TheUlteriorMotive
I was tempted to pick it up but o left it behind me, seems interesting
Solar Bones was a great read
No I must keep a look out for it.
