@Fagan_ODowd , @farmerinthecity This might be interesting. Read a review during the week
Bought a copy as a present for a pal a while back but haven’t got it myself. He didn’t mention it when we met for a coffee a couple of weeks ago which I took as ominous.
Cheers.
Julian Cope did a book about 25 years back on the krautrock scene,
I’ve been meaning to get around to it.
You’d do very well to find it. It’s very rare and be careful buying it online because a lot of the copies on sale are the German language edition.
I have a copy myself. It’s not about the scene per se it’s more a review of the notable Krautrock bands and albums.
I saw it on Amazon for nearly 300 quid!
Do they do audiobook versions of Ann & Barry?
I started this and noticed there wasn’t much of a high level description of the book on the cover so I went to Wikipedia to see if I could get something, avoiding any plot details.
There in the first paragraph of the article is the twist in the novel. I subsequently watched an interview with McCormack and he was talking freely about the twist in interviews.
Did you know about it before you read it or dud you deduce it?
No farmer I didn’t. In fact I am so slow on the uptake that I only realised the twist when I saw the play of it in the Abbey a long time after I read the book.
Second coughlin book is very good and the trilogy ends just as it should.
However the second Kenzie book (serial killer) is excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Recommended numerous times in this thread. A great book.
I thought Hitler got rid of all the gypsies.
T’is good alright but loses points for the, you know, Oirishy-accented Liam Whelan section, so it does.
Just finished Close to Home a first novel by Belfast writer Michael Magee. Its an excellent book. Set in post crash Belfast. Drugs, alcohol, partying, literature and the lingering legacy of the troubles. This lad is well able to write and we will be hearing more from him I think.
I’m starting Joe Rogans autobiography tonight. I’ll report back
This was excellent. Thanks for the recommendation
Is Ed Moloney’s “A Secret History of the IRA” worth a purchase?
What are you hoping for out of it? It must be 20 year since i read it and i thought it was good at the time but
Ah more about inner workings of the IRA, planning of operations and characters/geography involved.
Reviews seem to suggest that it is very focused on Adams and his direction of the movement away from violence but I’m pretty familiar on a high level with that already
