Enjoyed this. Long and it bops back and forth over time quiet a bit so you need to concentrate hard to keep a grip on the narrative but it’s worth it and some are the devices used to advance the narrative are ingenious.
I must go out and get her book “Land” next.

Storyline is a bit mad but she can get away with it, her writing is so good.
Her latest has a bit of a Translations vibe. I must get around tomorrow.

Just read this. Another charity shop purchase. I’m not sure you can go into a charity shop and not find a Robert Harris book.
Asquith was a complete piss pants. No wonder England declined so much in the 20th century with leaders like that.
The detail around the lives the aristocracy lived was fascinating/jaw dropping (take your pick) too.

Essentially a post famine family saga intertwined with magical/mystical elements. Propulsively written. Once you start reading you can’t stop. Enjoyed it immensely.

I’m in the middle of Munichs by David Peace who wrote the Damned United. Very haunting stuff and paints a great picture of a time and place.
Has anyone read his one about Bill Shankly?
