Bressie has a new childrens book out. For depressed kids perhaps?
It draws a map in your mind if you know the layout of limerick city. And it sticks.
Pedro Pony tries to top himself and Peppa gives out to Freddie Fox for selling him a box of 5 ropes.
Fixed
Stick to his short story collections, they’re outstanding.
His novels are both shit in my opinion.
I detest short stories.
End.
I wasn’t all that taken with City of Bohane. There are a few brilliant passages that linger in the mind alright, but overall it was a bit of a let down.
It actually is about mindfulness and coping with stressful situations
But there are plenty kids books do likewise in a subtle way
Did you ever have Exploring English for the inter/Junior cert? I love a decent short story, all done in 15 minutes or so. Some writers are suited to it and make crappy novelists, I think Barry is like that, so was William Trevor, Donal Ryan is a master of both.
Guests of the Nation was a great story, Trevor has some outstanding stories but I cant rememeber the titles,
The story written by the Carkie had to be the best one of course.
Trevor is Cork as well mate.
Chapter 2 is writing itself. I must post up an extract some day
Starting Patrick DeWitt’s new book now, if it’s half as good as sisters brothers it’ll do me.
Is that his first since sisters brothers?
Reading a book called ‘the secret barrister’ at the moment. A look inside the British legal system and how it operates as told by an insider.
Very interesting book. Probably not a huge surprise to hear the system is an absolute shambles for both victims, complainants and legal professionals working within it
Cant wait to read it
What comeback?
It went from being the best city on the planet to the greatest city in the universe
I was surprised that the magistrates were all amateurs. Didn’t strike me as indicative of the best justice system in the world.
