I have listened to it too and really enjoyed it so may well have been me
The Spinning Heart by Donal Ryan.
Better again than The Slanting of the Sun, which says it all.
It is his debut novel.
Animal Rescue be Denis Lehane is one of my favourite ever short stories.
I liked from a low and quiet sea.
I haven’t read that yet but there’s something about a lad from Nenagh pretending to be an immigrant to Ireland that makes me wonder.
That said Donal hasn’t set me wrong yet.
Say Nothing
It’s brilliant.
Are there any Good books out there on the GAA and the troubles? If so, what are they?
Green Fields by Tom Humphries.
The Bloodied Field
edit: not about the Troubles but still good nonetheless
Good man… I can over look the artist for the art here.

This is good but hard to get now
I am currently reading this . Very good.
Reading this now. A great read.
Mao was mad
Maoism is mad
Maoists are mad.
Makes for a cracking read.
Wasn’t Paul Breitner a Maoist ?
He was.
Sambo’s book, All Or Nothing, touches on it a bit, but not too heavy obviously. From a players point of view.
Killing Rage Eamonn Collins. Kevin Myers’s book is actually a rollicking good read even if he’s prone to exaggeration.
Or else you could just watch the Peter Taylor trilogy Provos, Loyalists, Brits. The recent Spotlight series is good too.
How in depth do you want to go and do you want a full end to end or specific people/times.
Three of the better books i have read on the hunger strikes would be:
Nothing but an unfinished song
Ten Dead Men
Hunger Strike: Margaret Thatcher’s Battle with the IRA: 1980-1981
Great book
