Agreed. Some of the scenes were stunning - was the bear CGI or how did they do it?

Deserved nominations for Saoirse Ronan and Brooklyn. It’s both the best film and lead female performance ever.

Ronan was on the radio this morning. She’s a great actress but my jaysus the mock Dublin accent she’s developed is cruel.

It’s CGI…

I believe I’ve said it here before, but I think she’s been “acting” for so long and is so good with accents, instead of going back to her old one, she either doesn’t remember what it was, or simply decided a certain accent suited her persona better. I think Colin Farrell is the same way to an extent. Whatever, there’s no way thats Ronan’s real accent.

I wasn’t be able to stand her much in the past, but she was excellent in Brooklyn and for some reason I’m warming to her more ever since.

As an aside, I had no idea Domhnaill Gleason was in The Revenant, what a fucking year of movies he’s had.

Her accent?

Yeah I heard that - I was wondering about the Dub twang to it alright.

+1. I saw Saoirse Ronan interviewed on various things over the years and thought she was a bit of a gimp. But I fell in love with her during Brooklyn - she’s a sweetheart/princess.

Have you seen The Lovely Bones, pal?

Watching the great Mel Gibsons movie Apocalypto now.its a cracker

The big short is predictably very good. Bale is excellent in it and Carrell was great in his role too.

Have you read the book? Lewis’ best

No but heard it’s class alright. I found the film really enjoyable. I’m not going to read the book though, one or the other for me with these things.

Id recommend reading it, the film (obviously) barely scratched the surface
