Good Fillums

It’s just fantastic, pal!

Didn’t you take the Game of Thrones tour as well?

No I was expecting something that had an at least a decent plot. What I got instead was something with shit characters and a terrible plot. It’s a movie for thick people basically, that just like to see cool things

Its Mad Max, and you were expecting some sort of complicated plot? While I wouldn’t laud it as the greatest screenplay in history, the plot it does have serves the action just fine.

Its a movie for the senses, not for the mind. Its unlike anything ever put on screen before. Its an amazing achievement in cinematography. To do what he did, melding CGI and real action seamlessly. To film what he did and get he shots he did, was a phenomenal achievement. To attempt to criticise it for not having a plot is like having a go at Room for not having enough car chases.

The thick people you say whom the movie was for at least knew what they were getting into when they went to see it. You’re coming across as awfully naive here.

I watch movies for a storyline, not to see some CGI. I thought given the reviews it was getting that there would be a bit more to it than there was, instead of a 2 hour long car chase with good scenery. Fair play to them like, they obviously spent a lot of money on the effects and stuff and it probably made a lot of money but its not a good film at all.

You’re gonna love The Danish Girl.

I wouldn’t watch it if you paid me. Action movies can be good, just not when the characters are shit. Die Hard for example has a fairly simple plot but the characters are good and you care about what happens to them and that is a great movie. It wouldn’t work so well without the scene with McClane and his wife near the start, the dialogue in the taxi between him and the taxi driver and the communication between him and Powell throughout the movie. It wouldn’t work so well if McClane barely talked in the whole movie and grunted every once in a while

Mad Max fury road is an absolute top notch, belter of a film. It’s made for the big screen and volume turned up to the max. Get a grip of yourself you snob.

Fury Road is a road movie and Die Hard is set in a multi story, not even close to each other in similarities in that regard. Furious 7 would be a better comparison.

It’s a two hour long car chase where characters barely talk

Mad Max was top notch, fantastic movie.

Mad max would be the proper comparison

I’ve started watching stuff on the laptop with the headphones, the sound is fucking savage, its like a cinema, far better than the tele, I watched the lot of Deutschland 83 this way, unreal so it was

I’m assuming he’s 12

The lads who are impressed by a bit of CGI and a two hour car chase are the lads I would say are 12, not me. In fairness I was thinking I wouldn’t like it even before I watched it but having read the reviews said I’d give it a chance and I still didn’t like it. I’m not really into any of those post apocalyptic type movies but especially this one because of the lack of good characters or a decent plot. The first hour was decent to be fair

I watched “Goodbye Lenin” there this morning, I really enjoyed it so I did, highly recommended. I love all that stuff about East Germany

Spotlight is a good 8/10. Keaton back to form after that dogshit Birdman. Leans heavily on All the President’s Men but a good watch. Not as harrowing as people are saying - maybe we’re just used to the whole church child sex scandals here.

The Revenant or whatever it’s called, DiCarprio’s new one, is very good. Would give it an 8/10. If you like bleak, grim, visually stunning, violent movies you’d enjoy it.

Looks soppy and sounds dated. Where did you get a copy of that?

I stole it off the internet thanks to @myboyblue its incredible, touching on a human level, I’m looking for a bit more complex than explosions in a film to fulfil my viewing experince
