Good Fillums

Would you believe I always try and watch it around Christmas time, the first time I saw it was on TV at Christmas around 99-2000 and it just feels right to fit it in around then since.

Just getting stuck into lord of rings here.

There’s something very special about those opening 20 minutes or so of the first film as gandolf arrives in the shire to meet Frodo and bilbo baggins.

Sort of makes me yearn for simpler times or my childhood or something.

I thought it was average enough, just a rip off of the first.Entertaining enough to be fair.

The first few chapters in the audio book captures the same scene beautifully.

Speaking of Westerns,Blazing Saddles would give it a run for its money.

Watched Licorice Pizza last night. A wonderful slice of 70s Americana.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s young fella is going places. Some great cameos in it too from some heavy hitters

Brooklyn’s Finest is not bad at all

Just watched The Stranger, on Netflick
I doubt you’ll see finer performances this year than Joel Edgerton and Sean Harris in this. Horrific stuff really, based on the abduction and murder of Daniel Morcombe in 2003 in QLD.

The manner in which Farrell has cultivated his career in the last decade is a credit to him. He deserves all the accolades and praise. He’s a superb actor and a great ambassador for the Irish arts. He’s come a long way.

Thought it was very good but too twee in parts. Fairly repetitive of his other plays. Still very good overall

Barry Keohan, who I’d normally not be much of a fan of, stole the show I thought.

The Stranger on Netflix’s is a good film … the relationship between the two main characters is unrale …

I watched Elizabeth and The Golden Age over the last week. I hadn’t seen The Golden Age before.

Both brilliant, brilliant films. Blanchett is amazing of course, but what a cast in both films, even Eric Cantona is excellent.

My only criticism is that Fanny Ardant is criminally underused in Elizabeth. I could watch her for hours.

Strange ending I thought pardon the pun.

Defo but I don’t think it was really about that . It was more about the characters . The two lads should be near an Oscar for it … your man was a proper oddball
