Watched The Watchers, from Shymalams daughter, set in Galway. A bit meh.
The film or Galway?
Its not very good
Champion with Woody Harrelson in it is actually funny. First half decent comedy I’ve seen on Netflix in a while.
The Prestige is on BBC tomorrow night
No. It’s not at all. It’s a 90 minute film that’s about half an hour too long.
Agreed
Had the house to myself over the weekend as wife and kids were away at the in laws.
Decided to watch 3 movies that I liked but hadn’t seen them in 20 years or so. Aslo i know id have a hard time convincing my better half to watch these
-
Reservoir Dogs: a great (violent) heist caper. Great performances all round esp from Steve Buscemi and Michael Madsen
. Really enjoyed it. Cracking Soundtrack
-
True Romance: staying on the Tarantino vibe (he wrote this, not directed it). A love story big time but properly violent of course. Enjoyed it but probably not as much as above. I forgot Denis Hopper and Jimmy Gandalfini featured. Brad Pitt is great as the stoner roommate.

The French Connection : after 2 LA flicks, i fancied some 1970’s New York grit. It was a toss up between this or Serpico. The recent horrible passing of Gene Hackman swung it for me. A proper NY detective romp. Maybe not quite as excellent as i rememberd it but still decent.
I think somebody here referred this type of a weekend as a “lonely weekend”. It was just me and my dog
. I’d i get time in a quet house:see_no_evil:
Yeah I usually like Soberburgh, literally the next day after i saw Black Bag, id forgotten the plot. It is well reviewed so might be better on a 2nd watch like many of his other flicks. Id doubt it though
A weekend well spent. Throw in The Outlaw Josey Wales there to top it all off
Had a quiet morning to myself and rewatched a film I hadn’t seen in about 30 years - Roland Joffe’s masterclass The Mission.
I probably didn’t appreciate how brilliant it actually was when I first saw it as a much younger man.
One of my absolute favourite films, an absolute masterpiece.
Ennio Morricone’s participation elevates it to another level.
He elevates every movie tbf
Watched The Longest Day last week
John Wayne was some pain in the hole.
“No country for old men” on tonight on TG4 friendo
Anseo
I watched Copshop the other night. There’s a character in it that even though he doesn’t appear until half way through makes it worth watching.
That was fantastic
Watched it on the big screen originally
Eh? 72 on Metacritic is above average.
