M&M topper in vue.
Good vibrations is class. I love how hey hold off the audio of Teenage Kicks till the end
Lead actor was fantastic in it i thought
Did we go on a date to watch that?
The Ballad of Wallis Island is a gem of a film. A gentle quirky British comedy. Tim Key gives a tour de france. Carey Mulligan and Tim Basden are excellent too. 4 stars.
Thought it was gas, well worth a watch
We did.
Lighthouse cinema in Smithfield
Hamnet is a good film.
I thought it was good, but wouldn’t watch it twice.
I’m reading the buke and it is excellent
I’d second that.
Watched Mermaids with Cher in it there, enjoyable! Cher is gorgeous.
The rest is history offshoot “the book club” did Hamnet on Tuesday. You’ll enjoy it after you’ve read it. She’s a fantastic writer.

Good one
Went to Sirat today. This is the Spanish film about a father and his son trying to find his daughter in the rave scene in Morocco as WW 3 is kicking off. It’s up for the best international movie Oscar. The soundtrack is insane. Definitely best seen in a cinema. It has divided the critics. Some think it was the best film of the last year, others the most overrated (including Mark Kermode, who I respect as a critic). Something happens exactly half way through the film and the critics are at loggerheads as to how the remainder of the film deals with it. I thought the fallout was logical enough. It’s a tense and intense film. Also a bit trippy in the manner of cult films of the late 60s early 70s. Parts of it would remind me of Aquirre Wrath of God - that’s a good thing. It is also not a film for people with a fear of heights.
I’d give it a solid 8/10.
Platoon on BBC4
I really enjoyed Nuremberg but agreed. I’d give it an 8 though. Crowe was magnificent as was Shannon.
Nobody 2 follows suit from the original. Explosions, circular saws and spikes on a water slide. What more could a man want? Oh did I mention Celine Dion’s Power of Love through the gory finalé? Magic.
Two grand easy films
Crowe was very good but I thought it was a terrible film.
