If you want wide appeal you have to set aside some of the academic rigour. Nobody, except weirdos, wants to listen to bland facts and statements without any bit of colour provided by the presenter. It’s why a lot of people think history is incredibly boring.

What you’re advocating for is what David McWilliams is to economists with all his terms like breakfast roll man to make it more accessible for the likes of @Arthur. We simply can’t be dumbing things down like that.

On the IRA episode and i don’t like how they switched immediately from saying the UDA murdered around 400 innocent catholic civilians to reinforcing the IRA were the biggest killers in the conflict.

Youre correct that alternativee arguments are a good way of challenging your own biases… However, there’s a difference in not agreeing with arguments or points of view -…versus when someone is misrepresenting what happened to suit a narrative.

Takes a certain IQ level to pick up on the difference.
