Don’t know if there was a thread about this already(can’t find one anyway)
Name the better sports films you have seen
My some of my favourites:
Escape to Victory
Any Given Sunday
Bull Durham
Happy Gilmore
The Waterboy
Bull Durham
Above the Rim
Celtic Pride
I am sure there are plenty I am forgetting, feel free to add
Thought Cinderella man was decent myself
Watched it only a few weeks ago, not bad if a bit schmaltzy…
Raging Bull is decent as well…The Rocky movies are great entertainment as well, although they haven’t aged well
Sorry Dunph if the thread title wasn’t clear enough, this thread is about sports films…Wrestling results are predetermined therrefore it isn’t a sport

Saw the one about Primo Carnera a few weeks ago, thought it would have been better.
Two films I love (and they are pure shite to say the least)were Kickboxer and Bloodsport, great hangover films though I have to say, no concentration required at all.
Wrestling is “sports entertainment”, therefore sports. It’s in the title. The Wrestler qualifies.
Seabiscuit was a decent one too, not a patch on the book though.
Kingpin is excellent.
Days of Thunder a bit cheesy but entertaining all the same
I believe SS** is a big fan of When We Were Kings…Cool Runnings is another class film…
Million Dollar Baby
Remember the Titans
Taladega Nights - The legend of Ricky Bobby.

Million Dollar Baby can’t believe I never thought of that, one of the best films I’ve ever watched…great shout
Blades of Glory
Jerry Maguire
Has there ever been a good film on the subject of greyhound racing? Man about dog attempted to do this but failed…

And with the comment “Raging Bull is decent as well” the puke secured himself another IOTM nomination. I don’t care if it was a joke puke, there are some lines you dont cross*

*unless you’re Liam Dunne and you enjoy that whole line crossing thing so much you feel the need to write a book about it
You put THIS shit in
Happy Gilmore
The Waterboy
Celtic Pride
And you leave The Natural out pukey, shameful stuff.
The first Rocky was astonishing.

The Mighty Celt!
A league of their own is better than some of the muck already mentioned here.
Kingpin Bowling
The Hustler- pool
Hoosiers-Basketball
Field of Dreams-baseball
Caddyshack-Golf
Fat City, Raging Bull- Boxing
This Sporting Life-rugby league
For the cricketing fraternity here Lagaan is a fine film
There’s a great Paul Newman ice hockey film called slap shot which is fierce funny
But the two gratest have to be Caddyshack and The Champ
Slapshot is a classic film.
I’ll throw you in Mystery, Alaska for another Ice Hockey movie.
Blue Chips is a decent enough basketball film, and say what you like about Varsity Blues, but it does have Ali Larter in that whipped cream bikini.
