Gordon D’Arcy has popped the question on holidays to his model girlfriend Aoife Cogan.
The 31-year-old Leinster ace got down on bended knee and proposed to his girlfriend of a year and a half on Sunday night while on holiday in Menorca.
The former Miss Ireland has kept her romance with D’Arcy who was a mature student in UCD until last year, under the radar, but the couple have been photographed together at the weddings of Brian O’Driscoll and Amy Huberman last year and the recent Wexford wedding of Leinster captain Leo Cullen to long term girlfriend Dairine Kennedy.
Derek Daniels from Assets model agency where Aoife is signed as a model, posted a congratulations message on the agency’s Facebook site to the couple. He told one newspaper: “I didn’t get any details of the proposal, we just heard from her this morning.”
Aoife, from Castleknock in Dublin is also a keen artist and photographer and recently completed a foundation course at NCAD.
