Great Freekick Goals

Following on from @Il Bomber Destro’s great headed goal thread and coming about from the US freekick routine last night, a thread to log your great freekicks.

Two that always stood out for me from the routine side of freekicks were Brolin and Zanetti, love how the wall and keeper were completely fooled by something so simple, but executed so well.

I remember this game for some reason. Ian Woan scored two freekicks the second of which was a cracker

Name the freekick scorer and the match, please.

We need rules and regulations, like The Smashing Tunes thread.

John Collins. Against Rangers. April 1994. Remember watching this goal with @Rocko and we were both giddy about the strike. Collins could get some amount of curl on a ball.

Three of my favourites from the Houlier era.

Gary Mcallister v Everton 2001. Deep in stopage time 10 man Liverpool are drawing 2-2 with their City rivals and desperately need a win to secure champions League qualification for the first time.

John Arne Riise v Man Utd 2001- New kid in town steps up to take a free against bitter rivals- His career rocketed after this…This would be Liverpool’s 4th straight win over Utd…

Danny Murphy v Man Utd Dec 2000… We hadn’t beaten that lot away in a while… up stepped Spud.
