Great Goalscorers

Jimmy Greaves.

Going back to Vieri again for a minute, in Serie A during the time period from the early late 80’s all the way up to the mid 00’s it was the home to the best strikers in the world. The names just roll off the tongue when you look back at that era. Vieri from about 97-2004 was just out of this world. He was an absolute battering ram, one of the best I’ve ever seen in the air and as a pure physical force but he could also be a very subtle finisher. He went to La Liga with Atletico and topped the scoring charts scoring 24 in 24. During his stint an Inter he scored 103 Serie A goals in 139 game, he had 8 WC goals in 10 WC games for Italy. He was second only to Ronaldo during that time.

Ronaldo was the most frightening footballer I’ve seen, when he was fit and healthy there was no stopping him. Tactics proved futile against an in-prime Ronaldo and I saw him get lumps kicked out of him in Serie A but it still couldn’t stop him.

It’s a real shame the two didn’t get to play much while together at Inter, would have possibly been the greatest striking duo football had ever seen.

Better than messi farmer? Messis stats for barca look slightly worse than the likes of skinny ronaldos for real because of how young he was when he came into the team. His international record is improving a lot and I’d say he’d have a better assists record than most of those mentioned too.

Robbie Keane . Over 60 international goals for European minnows Rep. Of Ireland. He also has 38goals in 58 games for L.A Galaxy.

In short it’s not very hipstery to say so but messi is the best player and goal scorer of our generation.

Are you talking to yourself, pal or did you foeget to log in under your other alias?

60 international goals?

Over 60.

I thought he was only on 40 odd… That’s some going- We will never see the like again.

I concur. Ronaldo was magnificent but his aura of invincibility didn’t extend for as long as Messi has already managed. World Cup will be big for him though.

Monkey Allen.

Messi has already failed at two World Cups. There is no bigger stage than the World Cup.

Jonathon Speak.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Di Natale, what a guy

After Klose retired from international football today, Robbie Keane is the current highest scorer of any international player with 62 goals. Phenomenal.

He’s also the 5th highest European scorer ever, after Puskas, Kocsis, Klose and Muller. What a fucking man.

Three World Cups.
