Pierce’s brother Liam was a Wexford hurler of considerable talent in the 1980s.

Pierce’s debut album was recorded in New York and produced by Philip Glass, who was living in Pierce’s apartment block at the time.

Ian Lynch from Lankum was a lecturer in folklore at UCD for a while. All of the rest worked in stuff other than music as far as I know until they went full time with the band.

I’d be surprised if they hadn’t spent a good bit of time grinding and struggling to where they are today.
