Without one specific act, Watching Sean Kelly in the tour de france and the steely look he had always gave me the impression he was as tough as nails …always in pain from pushing the body…
Again not specific but Bernard Hopkins while prone to mouthing off on occasion is a fascinating character. Hard as nails… His life story, hustling on the street, jail time, boxing for so long, to this day the diet he religiously follows… Got the last drop out of himself.

Please post accompanying youtube clips if possible or a brief blurb of the heroism/toughness at the very least

Absolutely. Talk about a man who came from nothing who had every Readymade excuse to be a bum but knew his own self worth, even down to the bit of food he puts into his body… How come he never done a book? Or even a good 30 for 30…you see the odd interview on YouTube but there’s so much more to tell…

Unbearable heat. Two adversaries up against each other. Man on man. Nowhere to hide.

Fraser fighting with no sight after Ali busted one eye and him with limited vision in the other. From memory. But still no surrender.

Towel thrown in by Fraser’s manager as he thought Fraser would die. Ali collapsing immediately afterwards. Fraser going mental that the towel was thrown in - he was prepared to die.

The earlier relationship between the two. Ali being racist against Fraser. The pure hatred in Fraser’s heart. Ali recanting and calling Fraser a great. Fraser dismissing it and rejoicing in the way Ali ended up.

The great sports or anything really occasion of all time.

Armed with the knowledge of how Ali finished up, watching it back now makes for uncomfortable viewing . It went beyond brutal.
