Greyhounds Matters 🐐 - Supporting Rural Ireland

Apologies Juhniallio…

Big trouble Runt… they were muting selling the offices on Davis Road in Clonmel, but who would buy them now.

Fooking clowns whoever made the decision to try and get another few bob out of the developer. If it comes down to it they may have to sell Powerstown Park, now that would be a fooking travesty.

Nae bother Hangblaa.
Were we beaten by a better dog or did something untoward occur?

race was ran in monsoon conditions. will put one up to get the cash back shortly.

The blame for this all lies squarely at the door of the former Chief Exec of the ICC, and the ‘sweetheart’ deal he managed to negotiate for the land. He withheld details of the deal from the board and when the full details came to light they quite correctly IMO sought to nullify the deal.

Tell me more.

It gets better. Had a glance over the front of the examiner today, and it tranpires that when divilly was advised not to challenge the case after advise was given to the board by senior counsel, his response was along the lines of ‘there is no risk, sure aren’t we used to gambling’.

Gambling, he laid 100k to 6 bar.

Now Miley, you might be able to answer this for me. The way the ICC is set up the liability will fall back to its members, who i presume are the coursing clubs. Does this mean that if the develope is awarded the 4mill plus circ 2million costs, will every coursing club in the country be hit with a bill for 80k.

In the present climate, even if they wanted to, they could not find a buyer for Powerstown Park or Davis Road.

This could finish the game for good.

This is a fcuking disgrace. To think a few clowns could end up destroying the game that has been around for hundreds of years. Powerstown must be preserved at all costs, sell Davis Road away to fcuk, but the field of dreams must be left alone or the game is dead.

I think Divilly was put in a very difficult position myself, I’ve heard all the Jerry Desmond apologists come out saying he should never have taken the court case, but when the ABC meetings were being held all over Ireland last year people were all in support of Divilly’s position. So to say he went on a solo run isn’t correct.

As to how this bill will be paid for, I haven’t a clue. It will definitely mean having to make some painful decisions. I agree with SS* though, selling powerstown shouldn’t be an option.

Incredible stuff. They could have been €100,000 up minus one passage, but instead they look like being €5 million down, minus the fucking passage and with Mecca being on the table aswell. I hope they’re happy. The loss of Clonmel will be the death knell for the game. They’ve seen in Limerick how hard it is to find a venue to replace Clounanna. Clonmel itself is irreplaceable and they are masters of their own destiny there. Anywhere else they are likely to be squatters.

Wouldnt mind but after the 100k, the would still have retained right of way throught the passage one works were complete.

I am seething !

The Causeway took an unmerciful tumble when KO’d at the first bend tonight.

Pascal Taggart was a noted attendee, his boycott of the dogs has ended now that the Foley Affair appears to have been put to bed.

He was no where to be seen in the Kilashee last night at the awards.

Dick Sullivan fairly put it up to Martin Cullen and teh figures dont lie, net cost to the government of the €14 million is 2… 10% loss of staff in dog racing woud cost the country 12 mill a year in social welfare payments… Cullen was saying that they hope to continue to grow the igb and that Biffo is onside.

Cant imagine the mood was a cheery on Sat night in Clonmel for the coursing equivalent with the whole powerstown park thing hanging over them…

Was talking to someone who was at it HB and they said it seemed to go off as well as in previous years.

Looks like a few machines were unveiled at HQ last night. Anyone there to see it? Had to make do with the live streaming myself.

I was there manaboutdog. Tyrur Usain fairly bolted in…boom boom. A most enjoyable night. Droopys Morgan will sport a Hee Haw’s prefix very shortly I believe. Left badly in boxes but finished well, one of the younger pups in the competition too.

i thought he might be the pup you mentioned in greenpark alright, looks like a stayer in the making. There’s one we bred left in it too, topically named, probably needed the run according to skippy, hopefully he’ll qualify next week

Thats a quality litter alright

we’ll find out a lot next weekend i’m told!
