Ham and Eggers

Darren Fletcher is your quintessential ham and egger

There was plenty of lads, who, with a straight face, were claiming he would have dominated prime Xavi, Busquets and Iniesta (the 3 best Spanish midfielders of their generation outside of Alonso) if he’d been available for the 2009 Champions League Final

James Milner

Ah he has a good rapport with ally in fairness

Disagree - all too often shoved out wide to be an industrious winger. But was excellent for Villa when played centrally with the team playing through him - City bought him off the back of that good run and shoved him out wide again - he had plenty of dribbling and technical ability to go with his high effort.

Ham and eggers aren’t generally very good penalty takers either

Agreed.

Milner was very skillful and well able to beat a man in the early part of his career.

The fact he reinvented himself 2 or 3 times over his career shows how much of a top player he really is. Very few can do that.

Yet still a poor mans Gareth Barry.

Carrick?

I think Rice is just outside ham n egg territory but not too far - he’s almost touching the border. His set pieces have come on and he’s added a small few goals…but he’s such a plodder on the ball. I’ve yet to see him do anything in a big game.

I was thinking Carrick myself.

McTominay was in there too until he became the best player in Serie A.

Isak could potentially be a ham and egger in the Lads who are currently being overrated and are really just average category

Rice is flat track bully, probably a step above a ham and egger but nowhere near Rodri, Fabinho, Toure etc.

Stop it now

Isak is a tremendous shout, I don’t like his physique for a top player

Yeah, he looks brittle as fuck
