I wouldn’t expect you to understand complex football matters.

anti spanish xenophobia
anyway - ive organised birthday cakes for my office today to celebrate his birthday
i have a life size cut out of him in the canten & we are going to gather around him, sing happy birthday & speak of our favourite totti goals
huzzah
I’m wearing my “Totti 10” 09/10 Roma away jersey under my shirt and tie today.
thats maybe where they went wrong. Totti played behind Delvecchio in 2000 as he did with Luca Toni in 2006 anyway. He may well have played deeper in 2002 and 2004, I did the LC in 2002 and was on the piss in 2004 so dont remember as much from those ones. The stats dont back up him making a positive impression anyway. In terms of attacking midfielders - Wesley Sneijder, 23 goals in 77 games for Holland. None of the Italian strikers I mentioned were down the middle strikers, so doesnt excuse Totti’s lack of goals either way.
Italy were robbed in 2002 but its stretching it more than a bit to say they would have beaten a Brazil side with the 3R’s.
They also had a big stroke of luck against the Aussies in 2006 with a blatant dive from Grossi saw them get a penalty in injury time. Ironically enough Totti scored. It was his 9th and last international goal. I remember the game in particular as I had 100 euro on Italy to win, my biggest bet ever at that stage and was fairly bricking it at the time.
Best of luck, hope you get a lenient Judge.
What kind of striker was Luca Toni if you don’t think he was a “down the middle type striker”
I intend to be firm and fair with the downsizing mate, no need to be making threats when I haven’t made my decision yet,
an understanding of basic stats exposes the myth of Totti I’m afraid. 9 goals in 57 appearances = shocking.
Pity you arent able to shed a light on why he was such a disappointment but not to worry.
Roy Keane also has 9 international goals
David Connolly has 9 international goals in 41 games.
He was Irelands greatest ever striker mate.
Head up about 5 posts until you reach the post about similarish recent Italian players to Totti with superior records. It should be pretty obvious that I’m not referring to Toni or Delvecchio.
so does the bould Clinton Morrison - 9 goals in 36 games.
They never played with a team challenging for World Cups and European championships either.
By saying “none of the italian strikers i have mentioned” and given the fact you mentioned two only a couple of sentences earlier doesn’t make it pretty obvious. now if you had said -none of the italian strikers I mentioned earlier/in my earlier post- then then it would have been pretty obvious. but it’s not from the post above.
They also had a massive stroke of luck against them in 2006 when Materazzi was bizarrely sent off for tackling Cannavaro and Italy had to play the majority of the game with 10 men, something that is often overlooked. It wasn’t a dive either, clear penalty.
Totti’s job was to create chances and split defences, he’s always held a deep position for Italy, his job was to come deep for the ball and let the midfielders and full backs run beyond him where he can pick them out with his unrivalled passing range, I didn’t expect you to understand the tactical intricities of the game though. A fully fit and available Totti was imperative for Italy as Lippi said himself, Totti is unreplacable, nobody does what he does to as good an effect as him.
Sneijder is a completely different player to Totti and not in the same league at all.
fucking hell, do you have nothing better to be doing than winding me up with this pedantic drivel?
Speaking of Moreno, he was actually imprisoned recently for drug smuggling as far as I know.
make your poinst clearer and don’t try and pass then off with smiley faces and use of the term pretty obvious when they aren’t
Except none of them are similar to Totti.
The likes of Doni, Fiore, Montolivo, Aquilani etc are more similar to the role that Totti played for Italy.
I agree, Totti and Aquilani would be on a par.
