The whole concept of âwhite privilegeâ comes from the American Critical Race Theory nonsense that whites of today have unearned and undeserved privilege that they stole from people of colour. While this may be true of whites in the past who benefitted from slavery in the US or colonization in Africa and Asia by some European countries, it is mindboggling that an Irish politician would invoke the term today. What fucking privilege did white Irish people have at any time in history that is undeserved or unearned?
The whole concept is inherently flawed, as the massive advances of the past 200 years in terms of quality of life, lifespan, eradication of diseases, feeding an ever increasing population, technology and the growth of economies were all driven from the Industrial Revolution onwards by white Europeans, and over time have benefitted all of humanity of all races and ethniicities. So while the above advances started with Europeans they have benefitted everyone. Asia leads the world in manufacturing, appliances, cars, microchips, etc. How did they overcome âwhite privilegeâ? They didnât, they embraced advances that started in Europe and have leapfrogged them.
In short the concept of white privilege is a load of bollox, and an absolute load of bollox in Ireland.

Even in the US itâs a load of bollox. The ethnic group most impacted are African Americans, who are oppressed by whites but in the form of lunatic radical leftists. They are told to reject all developments that benefit everyone, because they are examples of âwhite supremacyâ. So the traditional family must be rejected, education based on merit must be rejected, etc. The exact opposite to other minorities who are successful such as Chinese Americans and Indian Americans, who have nothing but contempt for woke bullshit. The result: 80% illiteracy at age 10 in US cities among African American children. Leftists of course love this outcome because they can blame âwhite supremacyâ, which for some reason impacts some non white minotities but not others.
Once the lunatics start setting public policy things go downhill very quickly, a cautionary tale for Ireland.

All this is so silly too. To deny the concept of white privilege exists youâd also have to deny that Protestant privilege exists in Northern Ireland or deny it ever existed, or deny Catholic privilege didnât exist in this state, or that people like Paul McGrath or Phil Lynott or Jason Sherlock never faced any abuse because of what their skin colour was or how they looked. Youâd have to completely deny that there is literally any racism at all in Ireland, that literally nobody suffers any abuse ever because of their skin colour.
Being afraid of difference, being afraid of non-white people verbalising and making sense of discrimination they face, and then throwing hissy fits because a white person might decide to listen to non-white people and not dismiss what they say, all of that seems consistent with being somebody deeply insecure in their identity and angry for nonsensical reasons theyâre ashamed to admit because deep down they know these reasons are nonsensical and canât defend them.
