I knew this thread would take off once people stopped focusing on the binary, the black & white.
Like “I’m going into town now” received torrents of abuse before people realised it wasn’t just to notify posters when you were going into town. It wasn’t just the when, it was the why, the how, the sights, the sounds, the culture, the changes in town, & everything around the trips.
And so this thread wasn’t meant to be merely…are you following Si Harris on Insta or TokTik? It’s a thread to tease out what this young man trapped in old men’s suits is doing, planning, not doing, how people & personalities are reacting to him, e.g. Dunphy above, & how he’s trying to use his perceived enhanced communication skills to recover lost ground for Fine Gael.

Do we think Si Harris’s relentless social media game has propelled Fine Gael forward in the polls? People laughed at him for his “take the flag back” speech when he was appointed leader & I was seeing parallels with Stephen Kenny’s reign. But his daily “good evening from the office” updates combined with the avalanche of reels/clips of his engagements with the public &/or dignitaries have the Nualas & Bredas purring in the comments. “I don’t know where you get the energy Simon. Thank you for keeping us informed of all your hard work but don’t forget to spend time with your young family too.” But he also needs to know when to stick a pin in it - swapping jerseys with Keir Starmer. FFS sake Si.
