Hill 16

Christy Cooney is a cunt of unimaginable proportions.

He wants to make Croke Park all seater, doing away with the Hill. This cunt is going to go down in history as the worst ever GAA president IMO. How in the nameafuck did he get elected to this position?

I’ll be holding my call on him for a while yet, he was good and progressive in Cork, but he’s mates with Honohan, so i’m wary.

When or where did he say this TT?

It is a nicer stadium when its all seater. Its only the dubs give a shit about the hill, should we all stay in the 80’s for them fellas?

Hill 16 is an archaic concept.

Will enable Croke Park to host Champions League finals etc. A good decision.

FAI won’t allow that to happen I reckon, not in the short term anyway. They’ve too much invested in the Lansdowne to assist any other stadium in hosting money spinning games.

wont happen at all. Lansdowne will hold 55k, and that has been enough for finals already so that would be where it would be held, if at all, on this island.

What???!!!
If that happened they should be given no funding ever again. What would a Champions league final do for Dublin? Ireland even. If they are that stupid, bitter and unappreciative of what the GAA did for them then they should all be brought into the middle of Aviva stadium and hung, Afghan style!!!

The GAA could consider making Hill 16 an all-seater stand to combat the increased health and safety threat posed by post-match pitch invasions.

It is believed the idea was discussed by a special sub-committee charged with investigating pitch invasions, which have caused Croke Park’s insurance premiums to rise significantly in recent years.

Temporary seating has been installed with great success on the country’s most famous terrace for soccer and rugby matches, and now the GAA could follow suit to reduce the possibility of fans encroaching on the pitch at the end of their games.

Id be opposed to this aswell, apart from the nostalgia of the hill(i dont buy into that) and all the uproar it will cause it must be left as the economic option for people travelling to Croke Park for games,if a stand goes up the price of watching a game there will double, this isnt on,Cooney has no chance of ever getting this past GAA Co Boards id reckon.

No objections to this, the Canal is gone, the Hill will not be a loss. Seat it all. However Cooney is bonkers for thinking this will stop pitch invasions.

That i agree with, if anything it will be easier.

even if they do finish that stadium its not good for football - the pitch is too far away from the seats- also they would need to modernise it too as despite been relatively new the finishings etc are of a poor quality - the gga wont allow it either . Arent we hosting a UEFA final in a few years anyway

good idea to finish the stadium as it looks terrible as it is but they would want to make it like the canal & not just put seats in the hill

the aviva has the same problem of only been 3 sided but at least its of a lot higher spec than the bigotdome

Kev is trying to annoy me I reckon.

You had your coffee this morning alright, bright as a button today Flano are we?
You asked for it Flano in fairness.

Come here, did they introduce differences in the pricing of tickets last year for championship matches in Croke Park or was it still the same price for a ticket regardless which stand you were in?

Ya we have a Europa League final alright, which is a chance to see if we can handle such things.
I agree they should make it a complete dome. Also agree its a good bit away from the pitch for soccer and rugby. We could put a track in there sometime for a world championships in athletics maybe.

Yep, lot of fair points, Croker isnt suited to the rugby and soccer given its size, but you’re wrong if you think the GAA would turn down the cash a major European final would bring in, just look back at the H Cup semi final last year in the rugby. On the weekend of the Rep of Ireland France and Ireland Australia games, Croker brought in close to 3M revenue for the GAA, and thats before food and drink is brought into the equation.

I would seat the Hill for now, I do believe in time, Croker will be finished, the GAA will just bide their time as they have up until now.

The powers that be in football owe us a favour. Dont be surprised to see a Champions League final coming our way in the near future.

He’s the best President of my lifetime, in my opinion.
