New Reeling in the Years DVD out today
With the DVD ‘Reeling in the 90s’ released today, it has been announced that RT will be making a new series of ‘Reeling in the Years’ in 2010.
‘Reeling in the 90s’ is a 170-minute, double-disc DVD featuring the key news, sport, pop culture and entertainment events from the decade.
The DVD soundtrack features music from international acts like The Spice Girls, Blur, Kylie Minogue, Take That, Fat Boy Slim, Bobby Brown, All Saints, Jay-Z, The Sterophonics and Crowded House, along with performances from Irish artists such as U2, Westlife, Daniel O’Donnell, Sinad O’Connor, The Frank And Walters, A House, Richie Kavanagh, The Corrs, B*witched and The Cranberries.
Commenting on the new DVD, ‘Reeling in the Years’ producer John O’Regan said: "Right from the first transmissions of ‘Reeling in the Years’ over 10 years ago, we’ve always had strong public interest in a ‘boxed set’ DVD version of the programme, but difficulties over music and footage copyright clearances always got in the way.
“Thanks to the involvement of EMI Ireland and the extensive work of RT’s Libraries and Archives, we were finally able to release ‘Reeling in the 80s’ last Christmas, and the ‘Reeling in the 90s’ DVD goes into the shops today.”
Of the new series, he said: "We’ll start production next year on another series of ‘Reeling in the Years’, which will cover the years 2000-2009. Each of the 10 half-hour programmes will feature a given year from the ‘Noughties’ decade.
“It takes at least eight months to make the 10 programmes and although production starts in 2010, it’s not yet confirmed as to when the series will be transmitted.”

My bucking ass!!!

All far too recent.

Give me Paddy Hillery’s ‘You can have Boland but you can’t have Fianna Fail’ anyday.

In what way? The memories from the 90s are different, and I agree probably inferior to the 80s but still n all

These dvds arent great though because they dont have everything. Poxy copyright law. Same with Bachelors Walk too.

They are more recent though and are still fresh in the mind. Same with the music.

I suppose on reflection this isn’t massively exciting as I have downloaded the whole lot but still, it’s good news, people who otherwise wouldn’t be into the show might get into it now, and we can have more pub chats about the good auld days

True to a certain extent, surely there are loads of things that happened in the 90s that you’ve now forgotten about? Maybe it’s just me, the gargle dims me brain

I agree.
Unless it’s B&W I’m not insterested.
Next week they’ll have a reeling in the years banging on about NAMA and then cut to a shot of me wathcing myself watching my self on TV and turning around and wondering what a TV camera man was doing in the sitting room and did he want a cup of tea.

Yours in needing less coffee at 3,
GSH.

I want a copy of the 1967 show, anyone know where I could find a copy online (its not on utuub)?

Your username really annoys me. I’m kevving!

the year you were born?

A copy of the year you were born is crucial. I got a copy of 1984.

Actually Sledge, I’ll have to arrange with you to get the whole series off you sometime.

I’ve only ever seen one torrent, and it’s for the full 30 years as far as I can see.

yeah, I am struggling to find it anywhere. I was hardly a glint in the eye in 1967, different reason.

ClarkeyCat put it up on the reeling in the years thread before, think I got it in 3 or 4 days.
