Ever since your post the other night on the Bandage Date Night Thread I’ve been on alert for any sign that you might do something radical and hasty sometime soon. This may very well be it.

Does anyone have any blackthorn rods they don’t want? I want to be at something over the winter and can’t afford an Xbox or what ever they’re called and I’d like to get a few shillelaghs made for driving cattle next year. Also if anyone has harvested some sloes they don’t want let me know, gin is intolerable without them.

Felled 2 fine blackthorn trees yesterday so I can give you all the shillelaghs you want but unfortunately when I went down to harvest the sloes this morning , there was 2dirty mink just polishing off the last of them.

As a sidenote , blackthorn is simple the best firing you can get, it needs a nice bit of drying out first though.

Unfortunately I lost it when a large creature uprooted the pin and took off with it still stuck to it’s leg.

Some rookie errors here, mainly, do not pick your sloes for the Gin until after first frost.

I made 2 gallons of it last year, super stuff, will use less sugar this year though.

When our local backwoodsman catches a mink he puts out a call to his mate rather like that guy in Pulp Fiction when he catches Butch and Marcellus Wallace fighting in his shop. Except his mate’s name isn’t Zed, it’s Slash and they don’t sexually abuse the mink, they kill it using terriers and bill hooks.
