A lot more going on here than meets the eye. He also bought a lot of the cows back.

Your not normally serious?

The sale fell through sureā€¦ ā€˜Ladsā€™ that bought them couldnā€™t pay for them.

He owes local contractors fortunes, an A.I station in America over 60 grand too by all accounts. He was renting 700 aces too at around 300 euro an acre. That is a crazy risk.

Whoever would have thought that deregulating an industry would lead to a massive fall in the price of the product from that industry??

I wonder whatā€™s the full story here. These lads have been milking over a hundred cows since the early 80s which means theyā€™ve seen far more good times than bad. Back 15 years ago they were even up at Athenry mart buying cows for 3.5k, mental money back then. Land league should go and fuck off. A farm is like any other business and if you fuck up, it gets taken. It doesnā€™t matter that old Gramps trashed corn there 50 years ago.

Surely that tells you all you need to know?
Like any other business, once the banks started to look at the books seriously and put the squeeze on they were in trouble.

Milk is at an all time low the last 18 months, but still profitable. This cunt is milking 400+ since before 2006, profits were through the roof in the intervening years. A lot more to this than meets the eyeā€¦

His profits werenā€™t because of his ridicous spending. His costs spiralled.

:disappointed:

The co op rejected his milk by all accounts.

The family vehemently refute this, but the entire thing stinks.

Doesnt help to see those land league cunts down there either.

This lad is hardly a small farmer falling on hard times that youā€™d feel sorry for.
You take a risk and thems the breaks. He can go shit in his hat.
Iā€™d say a few of the smaller dairy farmers are in serious bother though, no doubt weā€™ll be bailing the fuckers out again shortly.

Itā€™s difficult to believe that the removal of the milk quota has led to a fall in milk prices. No farmer could possibly have been expected to anticipate that.

2 more big lads in cork are going next month by all accounts.

The small lads will be fine because they had the brains to stay small. Lads doubling their cow numbers, investing huge money only to work twice as hard to make the same margin.

The cunts who were tillage farming who decided to reseed ground, buy stock & build new parlours & sheds are well & truly fucked as things stand.

Exactly even lads milking a 100 cows can keep their costs low. No extra wages and havenā€™t any bank loan to repay.

Thereā€™s hardly many lads that went fresh into dairying Gary.
I donā€™t know of even 1 tillage farmer who set up a dairy herd.
Did you dream that.

There was a couple.

Iā€™d say the auld cuckoo is fucked is it?
Iā€™ve only heard it twice so far this year. Used to hear it every evening during the summer.
