tis a proper trap I have with a little tunnel in front to stop the cats getting in there.
I took a photo of it but I donāt now if Iāll be able to upload it from the phone to the laptop
What kind of trap is it runt? The two main types Iāve seen are the mesh cages with the door lever connected to a hanging hook that holds the bait, and a more basic pipe one. Iāve seen a fair few trapped pine martens but never a mink. The mesh cage we had at home eben trapped a young fox once. We happened to check it the same day though and we let him off. The only mink I ever remember being trapped locally was blown apart with a shotgun after killing about twenty hens and ducks.

Ya tis a mesh one, first time setting it. Had a few hens get massacred last week.
Hopefully I catch the fucker now. Iāve never seen nor heard of a pine martin around these parts.

Watch out for the vicious bastards
Theyāre desperate cunts. Killed four of our lambs at home one year. We got back at them though.
Whatās your plan if you trap one?
Put a dress on it and walk it around on a leash
Thatād get you noticed anywhere
Hereās the summary of the day for those interestedā¦
We left Limerick at 2pm. On the way to our destination, i suggested to Tournafulla Man that we stop in the fish shop first for reinforcements. There was some confusion when we got to the shop as i presumed that he would know what we needed. Eventually, after what must have been a half an hour in the fish shop, we decided on a few hooks and lead weights. He had spent the morning in the back garden catching worms so that was the bait sorted ( ). We made one more stop before getting to the lake, and that was to an off license.
We arrived at the lake some time later. Tournafulla Man, the skipper, decided to take us to his favourite fishing grounds. We started fishing at around 3pm and in total were there until 7pm. We enjoyed a few bevvies whilst there and the weather was glorious. I am sorry to say that we caught no fish. There was excitement at one stage as it appeared that i had hooked something, possibly a pike or something larger. After a period struggled with the rod it transpired i had merely hooked onto the rope attached to the anchor. Unperturbed, we ploughed on. Despite various changes of tactics and scenery however, we just couldnāt bait any fish.
The day wasnāt a total waste though and there were a number of humourous incidents such as when Tournafulla Man accidentedly spilled a large quatity of petrol into the water while trying to fill the tank, and when we got caught pissing over the sides by a group of touristsā¦
Would you not be better off with the fly on a lake ???
Or spinners/lures as I advised yesterday.
Would you not want a current for spinners ???
Na, the resistance of the water spins them as you reel them in.
Spinners on a still lake would make a fair āāplopāā, Iām no expert on fishing but I have done bit of fly fishing on a lake and used live bait and spinners in the river
A handy size 2 mepps wouldnāt make much of a disturbance plus youāll be leaving it drop for a few seconds before reeling in, that said I havenāt done much lake fishing, usually just fish the local river an use flies for that, too many rocks and weeds for spinners.
You lost me at size 2 mepps, usually fish a few trout with worms twice or three times a year, went fly fishing a few time but the amount of equipment some lads have is crazy
There was nothing in my trap this morning
Itās looking like Gormley has lost a good deal of support for his anti-hunting and dog breeding bill. One FF TD has lost the party whip and refusing to vote with the government on the matter and a few other TDās have made the Taoiseach aware of their intentions to oppose the Bill. Would be fantastic if this ended up being fucked out.
From the discussion I heard on the last word it looked set to skate through. Most FF tds were voting for it even though they opposed it āin princupleā.
