Hurling All Stars

Galway players are not eligible, lads would have to confront the fact they were the only team not hockeyed by Limerick.

Conor Prunty is an absolute bomb scare under a dropping ball. Daithi all day.

Christ you may forget about it if lads are considering leaving Tony Kelly off.

Although now that I think of it, omitting Tony Kelly would be the most All Star thing the All Stars could do.

It shouldn’t be forgotten that there are some awful self-important clowns (journalists) on the All-Star selection committee.

Limerick are guaranteed 5 - Finn, Byrnes, Hayes, Hegarty & T. Morrissey. Quaid and Gillane are likely, but not certain, winners. Lynch may get one for the year that was in it for him. Dan Morrissey will be thereabouts.

I suspect Waterford will get at least 3, of which De BĂșrca and Bennett are certainties. Personally, I’d have Calum Lyons in there but don’t think he’ll make it That leaves Barron, who is a super hurler but didn’t have his best year, Prunty, who is in with a decent shout, may lose out to Daithi Burke as Galway will get at least one for being semi-finalists. The other possibility is that Stephen O’Keeffe pips Quaid in goals if the DĂ©ise are stuck on two.

Kilkenny’s one is easy to pick and I doubt that Tony Kelly will be left out

Limerick womt get a midfielder bar they move Cian lynch to accommodate

For all the talk of the All Stars being shit there’s rarely too many terrible picks. The one with Brian Whelahan was a long time ago at this stage.

Goalkeeper can be a bit dodgy alright

Actually I’d push Lyons to midfield instead of Barron and fit him in there. Gillane had a very good final but not a brilliant year, Galway could get a corner forward spot.

The way I saw t his best hurling was a lot closer to the full forward line than to midfield.

Pity the players don’t pick it themselves. The players themselves would value that All Star more I would think.

There we are. No more need be said.

Quaid has to be nailed on.

In championship alone he kept clean sheets in the Munster final, All-Ireland semi final and All-Ireland final. In fact he only conceded 3 goals in five championship games and he wasn’t at fault for any of those (one of those 3 was Noel McGrath picking it up straight off the ground)

Puckouts were laser like. Hard to remember a single score conceded this year you could attribute to him. Safe as houses under a high ball and distribution top notch.

He has never won one either. Made a couple of great saves in the final where crucially he didn’t parry it out to an incoming forward.
