He had a couple of good games in 2011 against Clare and Cork but both were at pretty low ebbs at the time. He had excellent wrists and was a great striker of a ball, bit like Colin Ryan though he simply had no real pace which meant he could be easily marked out of it.

A lot of lads sleeping on Tony Griffin. He was a real quality forward before he went cycling across Canada. Athletic, strong in the air, direct and could take a score. Had a lot of very good games between 2002 and 2006 where he put up big totals from play
A bit lazy but yes a very good hurler. The other two in the half forward line can make up for the lack of workrate
I wouldn’t have considered him all that lazy, he was an honest player. Tony Carmody on the other hand, now there was a lazy hurler
Maybe I’m mixing them up. They were a similar size alright, Carmody a bit heavier set.
Yip had bags of hurling but attitude was suspect. Two point Tony as he was known as he always seemed to be happy with that
I was listening to that Brian Carroll podcast with Jackie Tyrell today. He picked Eoin Kelly as the best forward he played with and his toughest opponent
