You are typical of the disconnect between science and the real world and true experiences.

If this particular subject you completely did not believe in a few years ago (when many non-scientists have been saying for a while) but now there might be something to it, how many more of your beliefs or approaches by your peers are flawed? Or ready to be unproven.
