Youâd have to fancy Wexford in that one so
They will still find a way to fuck up
A nasty stroke by that Wexford fella alright.

I was in one of your coutiesâ haunts last night - the Graiguecullen clubhouse. A grand spot, great Gaels bursting with ambition and hope.
Tommy Murphy was the man - even as old as I am, I havenât seen him.
Thereâs a great photo of him out-reaching Paddy Kennedy by a clear foot in the s/f of 1946. Great memorialibia.

Decent enough folk over there, fighting the good fight on the border with the rastafarians of Carlow. What took you in the Graigue clubhouse? They would have had a Division 1 league opener yesterday, not sure if they were home or away so I imagine the dreams are flying over there already. They lost their way over there for a bit, got relegated down Intermediate, but are starting to make a mark again in Senior. The Boy Wonder was one of a kind I believe, the auld fellas would burn your ear off talking about him, a shame the cup that bore his name got such a raw deal, it wasnât the worst idea in the world.
Do you know Danny Brennan ( Boxer) from Arless and his nephew (I think), Beano. Theyrâe doggie/horsey types?
Werent in relegation territory under the much maligned Micheal Ryan!
Danny would be Donies auld fella and a hard hard fucker.
In fairness they were and got a couple of lucky breaks. As an aside Waterford havenât been relegated since 1996
Correct on both counts, Danny is an adversarial type, from a business/social point. On another note, heâs on his last legs.
He got a new heart around 03, heâs wheelchair bound as I type, but has a gateway into a market Iâm fulfillingâŚ
Was at Nowlan Park yesterday. I donât think we were all that good despite the result. We were terrible in the first half. Henry missed a few easy frees, I think we were scoreless after 15 minutes, so we scored 4-22 in 55 minutes. We went from 3 points down to 4 points up in 5 minutes. Waterford looked pretty toothless.
Conceding 13-76 in 5 games has to be a concern. Same goes for Tipp[12-86].
In agreement with a few of the points made here and adding some of my own:
Jackie looking for contact when he should just get rid of the ball. Nothing new there.
Padraig Walsh more likely to make the team this year than his brother. Especially given his excellent performance yesterday.
JJ was excellent as usual. One mistake late on that Murphy dealt with well. Much happier with Murphy in goal than Herity.
I canât see us seeing much more of JJ Farrell. I just havenât been that impressed with him. [JJ Farrell HOTY 2016, 2019, 2020 ]
Mark Kelly had 2 goals set up on a plate to him and finished them well. Looking more and more like a useful option. He probably should have had more but he is getting in the right positions.
The Richies were their typical selves. Did some excellent things and sometimes took too much out of the ball.
The ref didnât know what he was doing for the first goal. It was either overcarrying or a free in but he did neither and everybody stopped.
Kennedy and Holden were good but they both were trying to be a bit too cute with possession at times. Kennedy gave the ball away with a short pass that went straight to a Waterford player and it was a point. Heâll be hearing about that one Iâd say.
I genuinely think we are a team in transition. I donât know what our Championship team will look like. Some of the old guard are going to have to pick their game up. We need Rice and Michael Fennelly back to 100% to improve our chances. We are developing good depth and I think that will stand to us if we can keep the important people healthy.
Clare and Kilkenny are miles ahead of everyone else.
It will be interesting to see how Davy plays out the rest of the league, I would presume he will feild a similar team to yesterday against Laois with maybe a few more fringe lads getting a run and I would doubt he would be overly pushed to win the league and would prefer we go out to Cork/Tipp in the semis to dampen things down a bit but it is there to be won and the fact is we have won fuck all NHL titles to be blasĂŠ about winning it. Would be great to go and win it all the same

Will that not be the 3rd time in a row that Waterford will have Dublin at home in the league?
Who cares?
All the underdogs have home games I see.
When are going to sort out this hurling league. Itâs crazy.
The loser of the 1A play-off gets relegated, while the winner of 1B gets promoted? Why is there a play-off for the teams that relegated and not for the team that promoted?
But it doesnât stop there. There is a play-off between the bottom 2 teams in 1B, which is the same as 1A, fair enough. But the winner of 2A plays-off against second (which is different to 1B) doesnât get promoted like the 1B winner. They have to play the loser of the 1B relegation play-off. The table topper of 2A has two more games to play than 1B winner? Why? I assume it is to screw the smaller counties.
Anyone see the reaction of OâShea and his players yesterday at the final whistle? How the mighty have fallen.
I was half expecting a pitch invasion.

Much like Davy Fitz last year lying prostrate when Clare won relegation play off.
