Hurling League 2014
@caoimhaoin What timeframe are you saying putting on this top 10?
You already mentioned 2 years in this post. If that is your timeframe and you are leaving out Shefflin you are forgetting something fairly importantā€¦
I think he means last year and this year so 2012 doesnā€™t count

1 McGrath
2 Kelly
3 Horgan
4 Sutcliffe
5 Shefflin
6 Canning
7 Harnedy
8 Fennelly
9 Callinan
10 N McGrath

Shefflin is still a match winner. As is Canning. McGrath, Fennelly, Callinan and Sutcliffe are on top form. Noel McGrath is still quality as evidenced last Sunday. Ive omitted Keaney above but he deserves honourable mention as does Hogan. Lehane is about 13th on that ladder with Collins and Oā€™Donnell there aswell. Oā€™Donnell is still underrated

Bubbles Oā€™Dywerā€¦great time for himā€¦might shade it over Keaneyā€¦but hasnā€™t done it yet

I have great time for Callinan and over the last few years have stated he would come good when he was being slated by tipp fans and he is beginning to. However I donā€™t think he has proved he is in that top 10 yet, he probably will this summer. Joe canning is still the best player and forward in the country. Shefflin is still there too. Conor Cooney and David Burke could be in that company soon. Kevin Downes is thereabouts given his performances this year so far. Canā€™t believe Podge Collins is being overlooked to some degree, he was Clareā€™s best forward last year.

do you think iā€™d be a good coach pal?..

Isnā€™t Callinan always flying at this time of the year though?

Heā€™d have a great first season though.

the ā€™ wow, this guys attitude is infectious and heā€™s passionate !ā€™ to ā€˜fuckin hell, this cunt is nuts!ā€™ā€¦

Youā€™re too aggressive and see everything as a perceived sleight on you so, unfortunately, ā€œnoā€ is the answer. Itā€™d be different if you had some intelligence to balance this out - see All Ireland winner Davy Fitzgerald for example.

outrageousā€¦you need to break a few eggs to make an omelette palā€¦my ability to spot players strengths and weaknesses is second to none on this forumā€¦and every great leader has a healthy bit of paranoia

I get the impression youā€™d be a Glenn Hoddle type manager, youā€™d embarrass players with your own greater ability. I see a lot of myself in you to be honest. Its why Iā€™ll never be a Cheddar Plunkett type figure. He knows it. I know it. And we go our separate ways.

Thatā€™s a good list and one hard to argue with too. Itā€™s not that dissimilar an we can both make cases for all the players we mentioned. So you ā€œFFSā€ was a bit over the top. McGrath was shit last year, hence that exclusion. I actually didnā€™t think of Fenneally so no real problem with him. On recent form Iā€™d have a few ahead of Sheflin. He is board wrong on a luxury/liability nowadays with the injury, sending off etc. heā€™s not getting things his own way anymore and it seems to frustrate him. He may well defy them, but I have a feeling the miles on the clock have caught up. That many injuries would break far better athletes.

If you went with local bias aside, on your list Iā€™d have Harnedy no.3. He is more important to Cork now than anyone.

This is exactly why you wouldnā€™t be good. Better off as a selector Iā€™d say. Youā€™re still stuck in the 90ā€™s

.

Seamus Callinan??? By that argument Niall Healy should be in the top 10 also.

Both these fellas have shown over the past decade that when it comes to crunch time in the summer they are found badly wanting. I remain to be convinced that either of them will turn it around suddenly in 2014.

That bubbles ladā€¦iā€™m telling ye been watching him since minor, super talent

Lazy trainer though. He is pretty plump right now

thank god for that
