The only thing I can see about the scoring scenario is that it’d be easier to get a bonus point in Leinster round robin when the top two teams in it get to play teams ranked well below them, saying that it’d be easier for the likes of Klare to get losing bonus point off the likes of Cark and the Blah’s, another moral victory for them.

I think you need to work based on opinion. If you bring points into play then sure what’s the point(s).

Agreed. What’s the point in doing this if you can’t grade or better still, degrade a team at a whim.

It’s really a terrific service & not even behind a paywall either.

I do it for the love of the game and this place in general. If I’m late with them, you can go and suck it. But you’ll always get honesty; honesty and integrity.

In saying that, I’m toying with the idea of giving */- points for wins/draws/losses when the championship starts. I’m just trying to figure out how many points to space between the teams. But it will look something like this:

If a team scores 4 or more goals, they get a bonus point. If a team is beaten by 4 points or less, they get a bonus point. 5 points for a win, 2 for a draw, -1 for a loss.

What I like about your power rankings is that you’re not a slave to final standings or end results in the preliminary competitions. You show keen judgement & deploy sharp analytical skills to weigh up motivation/experimentation/injuries etc & compile the rankings accordingly. There was a 50/50 mix in the All Ireland semi finals and final last year. The Leinster teams were the only teams apart from Clare to trouble Limerick out of third gear.

Granted the top 2 in Leinster are always strong but the championship itself never lives up to much. You can always guess the same 3 to make it through. Maybe Dublin might pip Wexford. Munster is a bloodbath
