As the new season is upon us, here’s how they rank.
Maroons in depth and celebrated pre season odds and predictions. All contenders even outsiders considered.
Kilkenny 2/1 - no harder position to fill than full back, they’ve lost the best defender ever. Tyrell taking on water. Still plenty of attacking talent, a fully fit and interested ml fennelly keeps them competitive.
Tipp 7/4 - a whisker away last year, physically imposing, best backs and plenty good elsewhere. Need callinan to perform again and unlikely Shane Mcgrath will but they’ll lift liam.
Clare 5/1 - bags of skill, just not physical enough for tipp. Davys demons continues to ruin them.
Limerick 6/1 - wont be too far away but not the full package to win it.
Cork 10/1 - will be driven after last years debacle in the semi but still short of real help for horgan up front.
Dublin 16/1 - too long on the tooth with not enough brought through, keaney past his best, powerful and will out muscle galway in leinster, but thats all.
Galway 20/1 - complete lack of gameplan for years, no intelligent use of the ball or even confidence on it. The opposite of clare. Drawing with kilkenny and giving tipp a rattle shows theres players, just poorly organised and poorly self motivated despite lack of success.
Waterford 25/1- not enough scoring power, rebuilding
66/1 bar
66-1 on Wexford ?
You want a piece of that action?
What price for them to win Leinster ?
65/1
You don’t think in all seriousness that they could beat Kilkenny?
They could, they’ve beaten them at u21 and minor for last 2-3 years? Why not?
Youve been swept up in the hype slightly. They went from a decade of laughable mediocrity to mild competitiveness last year. But they struggled to beat a clare team down men and on the ropes all year and a Waterford team not going well. When a performance was expected they gave the worst in the championship, this has been conveniently ignored or forgotten by some. But if you want a specific reason, their forwards are the worst shooters from play in the country i think,. and ive seen them a few times. This was also forgotten about after thelimerick game. Minor and u 21 matters little, especially when they would have to play a proven team like kilkenny.
Wexford never feared kilkenny.
They’ve a funny way of showing it
You think McDonald Guiney and Liam Og wouldn’t walk , and I mean walk onto the Galway side ? And I bet your giving them a shot at Leinster ? I think Wexford will overtake Galway and Dublin this year, both those sides have beaten Kk recently . Wexford have their house in order re development squads and player mgt, it will bear fruit
Nope, Galway haven’t a fucking hope of winning Leinster. They would give Wexford plenty of it though.
No i dont think guiney and liam og would walk and i mean walk onto the galway team. You obviously think theyd walk onto the clare team?
A Galwayman talking about hype
A limerickman slagging anyone about hype
But for the sake of it, can you show me a few examples of galway people hyping our hurlers up. Not shit journalists trotting out the this could be galways year articles, a few months before the what’s wrong with galway articles.
McDonald would walk onto any team, the current Clare side are top heavy on forward talent . I’d like to have Guiney, he’s the type of player were missing

The last 4 pages or so re Hayes , legend was more hype ? Unless you are confining it to club form
People were saying he was a galway legend, which he is. No ones suggesting he’s a legend of the game, he’s no tony griffin.
Horgan will be lucky enough to start come championship if his form doesn’t improve over last year.
